Speed Merchant Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I need to buy a borescope. There are a ton of them on on Amazon. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on which one to buy? Thanks Curt Quote
Rwsavory Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I bought a Teslong from Amazon about a year ago. It has a very long probe so it can be used for more than just cylinders. The screen is bright and clear. I would buy it again. Quote
Marc_B Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I think Mike Busch was recommending the Vividia Ablescope when I got mine. Easy to use. Good resolution and great pics. I was able to get better pictures than they gave me on my PPI. I got the bundle with a WiFi box that powers the scope and links to my phone. Super easy to use. Quote
Joe Linnebur Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I’ve got a Teslong as well. I too would recommend it. Quote

Anyone have any experience or suggestions on which one to buy? Thanks Curt What are you going to be using it for? There are tons of options these days. Vividia makes a bunch of different ones, and the one with the rigid rod is good for doing cylinder inspections. This one: https://www.amazon.com/Vividia-Ablescope-VA-400-Borescope-Articulating/dp/B00GY7C9ZW They also make a semi-rigid/flexible that is good for other tasks, including exhaust inspection, etc. I have the Vividia rigid and flexible scopes and use both of them. I also have this one, which has been handy when I really needed to maneuver the camera a lot: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B28HRSBP There are a bunch of variations of that type, some include better articulation or other features. I also have a bunch of the various inexpensive "endoscope" models that you can get on Amazon for around $20: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PBF6DX5 They're handy for just snaking into oddball places if you don't want to risk one of your more expensive scopes. You can start on Amazon by just searching on Vividia and you'll get the usual preferred aviation Ablescope VA-400/etc. models as well as a bunch of other stuff. The good news is they're no longer super expensive and the new ones are much better resolution than even a few years ago. Quote
201Mooniac Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I listened to Mike Busch and went with the Vividia Ablescope VA-400. It is very easy to use and produces good pictures even when I completely mess things up. Quote

Thanks Curt If you subscribe to Savvy's valve service (not sure of the name) now or think you might, the Vividia scope shown in this video is about the only way to get the required pics. I have both the Vividia and a $20 endoscope, and there is no way to get the required pics with an endoscope. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RioHhoFzLa4 Do what @Marc_B suggested, and get the Wi-Fi box too. MikeOH Posted February 26, 2024 Report Posted February 26, 2024 I've been very happy with my Vividia VA-400 Ablescope. Make sure you buy direct so you get the latest version; some resellers are offering older, lower resolution, models. 2 Quote
Speed Merchant Posted February 27, 2024 Author Report Posted February 27, 2024 Thanks I appreciate your text. I bought one tonight. Hope this gets me to the bottom of my issue. Quote
