What is behind this area of my panel? 67 M20F

In the attached picture, what would be behind the panel in the marked area?  I'm looking for a place to put an indicator light and label.

Most likely nothing. I think the glove box went there. Twist your body up and crawl down there and look.

Not much.  Here's a photo of my '65 C when the panel was upgraded a few years ago.  The right side is pretty much empty, back to the tubular frame piece you can see in the photo, which is #6 in the diagram.  It slants rearward in the center (so no deep-dish avionics at the top of the center stack) and forward as it slants toward the outside.  As N201MKTurbo says, the glove box went there, so there's plenty of room.

Thanks very much.   Those pics are very helpful.  Someone on another site suggested that possibly a LORAN unit was in there at one time, which made a little sense since I have a bundle of white wires leading to the battery area.

I believe some planes had a small glove box there. My 67F has a radio compass there. Remove the outer passenger side instrument panel and have a look.
