I have a Garmin 650 with flight stream and gdl88.   I also use Garmin pilot on my iPad.   Up until recently I have never had a problem getting nexrad weather.   I now get in initially, but it never updates in flight, and it will eventually disappear.  Any ideas, it needs a firmware update, but I haven’t seen anywhere on Garmin that would suggest I would be having a problem.  I checked and I am getting excellent satellite reception and I get the proper airplane traffic.

I think FISB is ground stations only, satellites are for GPS. Any chance a ground station in your area is down. Traffic can come from ground stations (1090 to 978 retransmissions), but also directly by receiving other planes transponders. So you could still see traffic and no weather if there’s no ground stations transmitting.

I just learned something.  Thanks.

"Information for FIS-B is transmitted from ground stations to participating ADS-B IN aircraft on a 978 MHz UAT data link.  Aircraft that use a 1090 MHz Extended Squitter (ES) transponder will not be eligible to receive the FIS-B product."

Also, if you use foreflight, you can have it display the towers around you and it gives an indication of your reception.  It’s in the settings on the map page.

I don't see it.  Mine may be too cheap.

EDIT:  Never mind.  I'm not connected to an ADS-B source right now.

I use Garmin flight.   I will see if they have that option.

I am traveling from Ohio down to the gulf.   It has been ongoing for a month.
