201er Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 With all this talk about monkey bar and natural birth techniques for getting in and out of a Mooney, which seat do you find easier to get in/out of? The pilot seat or the passenger seat? Quote
kris_adams Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 pilot for sure. 1/2 the time I have the copilot's seat slid forward and go behind it, 1/2 the time I slide it back and go over it, 1/2 the time I do something else Quote
Hank Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 Left seat is much easier. I almost can't get out of the right seat, but admittedly have little experience. Quote

Interesting... How do you get out of left seat without sliding to the right one? I normally slide to copilot seat, and grab the center tube with my left, copilot A-pillar with my right hand and get up. 1 Quote

Schllc Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 I had two ultras, the second door is grossly overrated. It took me about four months to stop walking around to the passenger side. The carbon fiber was a much better fit than the aluminum, the size of the door on the ultra is a winner but two of them is just more things to break and more places to leak. The NXI was great as was the panel layout, but in my opinion (and budget) not worth double the cost of a legacy Mooney. Mooney would have been better served by making the single door larger and avoiding all the expense and time they went through for two doors. Maybe they could have built more when the market was hot… Quote
cliffy Posted February 23, 2023 Report Posted February 23, 2023 I just twist and put my right knee on the copilot seat left foot in the copilot foot well and stand up And I'm 6'1" and 260 No problem except for age! :-) 1 Quote
Guest Posted February 24, 2023 Report Posted February 24, 2023 Did I miss the option for Comanche? Quote

I grab center tube, and stand up and out the door while taking a step on the co-pilot floor and then step out on to the wing. Definitely WAY easier getting out on the pilot side. I never even touch the co-pilot seat. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted February 24, 2023 Report Posted February 24, 2023 I found the easiest seat for ingress/egress was the Ovation right rear seat. With the front right seat in the max forward position and it’s seat back also full forward, I’d simply stand up through door opening and step onto the wing Admittedly, I rarely sat in that seat, but tried it just for fun . Riding in the back seat of an airplane, is like riding on the back of a motorcycle…..frightening !!! Regarding pilot or co-pilot seat ease, either one was fine for me. Quote
