I'm going to attend, but just on Thursday.  I haven't attended for 20+ years so I don't have any tips or recommendations.  I'm interested to hear what tips others might have.

Take the usual sun protection stuff……….hat, sunscreen…… plenty of water!
It’s quite expensive, but I highly recommend purchasing the best pit pass available!  It allows you up close view of all the planes.  A thrill for sure!!

If you’re willing to share extra finances, get yourself to one of the race pylons during the races, especially the unlimited!   Wow!

Enjoy!

Id recommend a mask for this year. Not for covid but for the smoke.  Its pretty bad this time of year up there.

Will this even happen if it's still IFR? Seems like the airport is IFR most of the day, the last few days.

Ever watch a car race in the rain?
How about in fog?

Expect there are rules regarding the weather that allows them to race or not race…

We have a few MSers that are part of the crews out there…

They are pretty good with supplying answers to questions like this… but, today they might be a little busy…

:)

I’m with race 28 Jet and race 24 Sport , smoke hasn’t been too bad early in the day until the winds pick up.

hopefully it will stay clear enough, each race is determined by a pre race briefing and the pilots will make the call if it’s safe .

the air races are unlike anything you have experienced, be sure to buy a pit pass, the crews and spectators are the best. Be mindful of “Section 3”

Have fun !

Way to go Air pirate!

Good Luck!  (Even though you don’t need it!)

Thanks @Air pirate. I'm still deciding whether or not to fly in to KRNO with a friend, to see the races. Would be a huge bummer to fly there and have the races get nixed (though I understand and agree if it happens). Sounds like it's going to be a last minute decision.
