Jpravi8tor Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 Greeting fellow members, I have just been made aware that gasp I am a CB due to my lack of fundamental! Does anyone have a cb solution for a fuel cap? Someone in the last few years opened the cap of my recent abandoned Mooney purchase and reinstalled it cockeyed! i have soaked it with Aeorokroil for 2 months to no avail…today I went for it and literally twisted the stem right off! im thinking I can just punch the center out at this point? Time to ponder while I find a replacement Quote
KSMooniac Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 Try Beegles in CO for a replacement. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
carusoam Posted May 1, 2022 Report Posted May 1, 2022 @OSUAV8TER used to be in the fuel cap rehab business…. He may have remaining parts to offload? Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
Jpravi8tor Posted May 2, 2022 Author Report Posted May 2, 2022 Ok brain trust will a m20 K cap fit a m20 F? I believe they are both a size 3 P/N: 431-9R Alt P/N: 531-001 Quote

carusoam Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 Check the part number for accuracy… Many look alike… but may not fit the part that is in your plane… Best regards, -a- Quote
Jpravi8tor Posted May 2, 2022 Author Report Posted May 2, 2022 The ipc has 431-21A but with Shaw aero caps there is a lot of commonality Quote
carusoam Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 Back in the day… I ordered caps for my M20C… through the MSC system… When I got them… they were not clocked right… so… they worked but did not line up properly with the wind over the wing… Turns out the caps weren’t my real problem either… the fuel neck they were mounted in was going away… The part number probably defines all of the variables… when the number changes, it probably changes the part some how… Best regards, -a- Quote
Jpravi8tor Posted May 2, 2022 Author Report Posted May 2, 2022 I have been advised that a 431-9R is the replacement cap for the 431-21A can anyone corroborate? Quote

I have a mod I did to my C that put all new fuel caps and flanges in. I’ll post a copy of the 337 here tonight along with in the 337 archive thread. Might be an option for you. David 2 Quote

Jpravi8tor Posted May 2, 2022 Author Report Posted May 2, 2022 I have been informed by a second source that 431-9 supercedes the 21A also my good workimg cap on the left is a 431-9 thanks all that helped 2 Quote
Sabremech Posted May 2, 2022 Report Posted May 2, 2022 Let’s see if the 337 will post here. Here’s what I did for my ( Hammdo’s now) Mooney. Scannable Document on May 2, 2022 at 6_56_13 PM.pdf 1 Quote
Sabremech Posted May 3, 2022 Report Posted May 3, 2022 I believe the caps and flanges I installed are Newton Aero 200 series caps. It’s a nice easy mod to do and the FAA just asked for me to fill out a 337 for the next owner. Fuel caps are used on new production aircraft so no field approval required. David Quote

I can download from this thread, and it reads fine. Maybe @mooniac58 can help. Well, that's unexpected; I couldn't upload a screenshot of the error either. Not sure where to go from here. Quote
mooniac58 Posted May 3, 2022 Report Posted May 3, 2022 It looks like we are having server issues with uploading files. Might have a storage limit issue on the server. I hope to have this resolved soon! Craig 1 Quote
