I think my carb is about done. As far as I can tell, last overhauled in1987.

There are two options. 10-3878 and 10-4164-1. The plate on my current carb is so worn I can't really see which is currently installed.

What's the difference in the two? One better than the other?

The book says either will fit the O-360 A1D.

Google isn't much help.

Thanks.

The one you want is the 10-4164-1. It has a higher fuel flow than the other, which our O-360s in the doghouse need for cooling. The overhaul shop should be able to make any changes to yours to make it become a 4164-1 and make a new data plate if necessary.

There is actually a third option, which is the 10-3878-M. That is basically the original carb modified for the Mooney M20C with the higher fuel flow of the 4164.

You definitely want the higher flow carb 10-4164-1.  There is another version 10-3878M - this is 10-3878 that has been modified to match the flow of 10-4164-1.

One other quick question. I assume there is a gasket between the air box and the bottom of the carb. My parts manual doesn't show the gasket. What is the part number?

Thanks
