KSMooniac Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 That sure surprises the heck out of me. I wonder if they had an empty hangar and just needed to keep some guys busy when they gave you that quote... Quote
rainman Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 You can check the Mooneyland.com e-book on Mooneys for answers to a lot of your questions. I will say that all things being equal from my pre-buy research, the 252 had several advantages like automatic waste gate and less fiddling around with mixture/MP. The costs of the 231 and 252 are not equal however. I bought a 231 and got adjusted the the engine management requirements. I also have GAMI injectors and burn about the same fuel as a J model. So ultimately I got the turbo I needed for flying out west, the speed of a Mooney, the fuel efficiency of a 201...granted it's not RV7 fuel efficiency but it's pretty good. With your budget you can find a great plane. Get with some local Mooney owner and go flying! Quote
