I used the kit from Mooney, as specified in the Service Instruction linked above.   That said, there's nothing very special about the kit other than saving a bit of time fabbing the circular plate to cover the hole in the air box, which isn't hard to make.   Deleting the ram air saves all the maintenance of the flap and seal and avoids issues with injesting stuff that leaks through, like sand or water, into the fuel servo ram inlets.   The downside is...not much.   It doesn't do much on a J model.   You do have to patch the hole in the lower cowl as well, but that's not that difficult with even mediocre fiberglassing skills.  As an owner you're allowed to do small repairs to the cowling.   My IA made me do it myself, before I was an A&P.  ;)
