20210930_151303.thumb.jpg.7df02bbefbb0f74cb55332d598b7b650.jpgJust walking around because I haven't been there for awhile. A newish avionics shop in the last hangar. Stacy has a hand in it so he hasn't left the field. Moffett Avionics? Something like that. Don't quote me.

David is short handed at Dugosh unfortuunfortunately. He "only"has seven in the hangar with two outside. Busy busy. 20210930_142119.thumb.jpg.c6a50ff4f78e06d1cc6d7585d365002d.jpg

Don’t i know it. Annual was suppose to be done by end of sept. Then Oct 4 now sometime hopefully before david goes on vacation oct 14. He is swamped with aircraft and can’t seem to get new help. My airplane is behind the right hanger doors out of sight in this pic.
that jet is one of 2 the owner has! The second jet is a green color not near as fancy color. He is getting all glass  avionics In the passenger seat as hey they need that view too. Owner is a DWI defense lawyer by profession.
Rats, why didn’t my high school guidance counselor tell me about that job.

Did you notice any activity at Mooney?

It is hard to say these days. If the hangar door is open, it is rare. I do see Jonny in town but I don't ask him how things are going, for obvious reasons.

Do you see any cars parked daily at the Mooney hangar/building?  The "Factory Phone Numbers" thread above says that no one is answering his phone calls and other says parts are overdue.

Employees park on the back side of the building in relation to both the Highway and the FBO unfortunately. Unless you make a point to drive back there, you will never see any cars. I will go take a look.

Today at Mooney the hangar door was open and an Ultra was doing pattern work! I am assuming it was an Ultra as the paint scheme was correct.

This good looking E model was parked today. Not sure if it was going into Dugosh or not.

I’d say that’s a GREAT looking E model!  But, admittedly, I’m partial to military influence… really nice work.

Was it Charlie Victor, the 1st Ovation Ultra? I think they still have that one for sale. FlightAware says it was up today.

That's it. It was doing some stop and goes. Maybe they sold it???

Rumor has it that it was sold a couple months ago and then the deal fell through. (EDIT - not true the new owner showed up later on this post.) Beautiful airplane though - that’s the one that was in all of the magazine articles when the Ultra was certified.

On a related but unrelated note, anyone have any PIREPs for Gulf Avionics? Trying to get quotes for some avionics work for mid this year in the Texas area. I have a few requests out to some Houston shops but haven't gotten anything back yet.

I believe Jonny owns it and leases it back to Mooney for use, but things might have changed, I havent talked with anyone lately that would know anything about whats up

I think you're correct based on the LLC that it's in.

SGR, looking to install a JPI EDM 930 engine monitor + CIES Fuel Senders and possibly a Garmin GNC 225 Comm, remove all the old instruments from the panel and get a new right-hand panel cut for the 930, at a minimum. I'm also interested in seeing how much more it would cost to put in a 1-piece flat panel, so I've been asking for 2 quotes from shops, 1 with just the new installs and 1 with a new panel put in and cleaning everything up.

Since I do not own a plane, I can only offer up what I observe. They are doing well in the regard that planes are going in and out. I've seen many Mooneys along with quite the assortment of everything else. The lead tech is a 30yr veteran and the owner is Stacy of Mooney fame. There are three techs along with Stacy. I've seen simple jobs to full panel makeovers including removing all vacume instruments. They are a Garmin certified store. I would not be afraid to try them just by my observation.

Well one thing is clear - It is definitely not a "test-mule" for any GW increase development of the landing gear.  I can see the usual rubber pucks in that standard nose gear.
