Somebody nearby with plenty of M20J experience… Lets start with where you are? In case you haven’t bought the plane yet… Where is the plane? in the case you want to arrive in a nice city, with your plane, and get trained… the logistics aren’t the best… but I would pick a CFI named Paul in the San Diego area… To pick a different city/state… find the Mooney/Flyer where CFIIs are listed by state… or read through this list… Go Mooney! Mr. Scott Posted August 10, 2021 Author Report Posted August 10, 2021 My last experience was more than 20 years ago, flying a C model. I will be keeping my J model in Ohio, but so far haven’t found many instructors in the state, with Mooney experience. I’m thinking of starting with a complex checkout to get my feet wet again.
Jerry 5TJ Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 There are three CFI listed in Ohio alone in the Mooney Flyer list https://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html
dave50b Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Jeff Schnabel and Mike Stretanski are two of the instructors listed in the Mooney Flyer list in Ohio. Jeff delivered my J when I bought it a few years ago and I didn't have enough retractable hours logged to make my insurance company happy. He flies a lot of Mooneys and answered lots of questions that I had. I flew with Mike for about 10 hours to get checked out and get the additional hours for insurance. I would highly recommend both. 1
