Like to order a fafnir or timken bearing that's made in the USA. Do not want a China made bearing. Guest Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Knowing your model year would be helpful. The bearings should be a Timken 08231 and 08125. Clarence Quote
A64Pilot Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 I used to always prefer a Timken myself, but I believe they have been mostly Chinese made for quite some time. ‘Hopefully not, I’d like to think they survived, but I’m afraid that the common wheel bearings aren’t US anymore, hopefully at least the high dollar special ones are still? I don’t know this, just one of those rumors you hear. Quote
David Lloyd Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Tapered roller bearings by many different companies use the same numbering system. Years ago, a couple others our company represented specifically told up their bearings were not approved for aviation use. Only Timken was approved. This may have changed, but suspect not. If you want to buy bearings locally from a bearing distributor, specify Timken and let them assume you're getting bearings for your 3 wheel boat trailer. Quote
Yetti Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 I think I saw a NAPA receipt for bearings in my book at some point. National Aviation Parts Association. 1 Quote
