I have been working through and issue with Garmin on my G5 ADI. I am now on my second unit and 5th battery since April 29th. I have dual G5s my HSI unit is an older unit that I bought used with a battery from 2018, on the latest software update I have had no issues. On the other hand my ADI was purchased new installed by my A&P and right out of the shoot it would not recognize the battery. I bought another battery to replace the original battery and the new battery did not work in the original unit. Called Garmin who told me they could not help at all unless I went to a local installer, it took about 3 weeks for my installer to get a new G5 but Garmin did not send a battery. It took us 3 different batteries that the installer had on hand to get one battery to work in the ADI. This new unit and battery combo worked for all off one month before now the G5 does not recognize the battery again.

Anyone have anything similar happen and know what they did to fix it?

I am having the same issues. On 2nd G5 and still not charging battery. Currently sitting at Premier Avionics in Ft Wayne trying to solve it. Replacing old aluminum wiring now and seeing if that is the cause.

Probably already done, but be sure you are on the latest software.  There was a version where it would stay alive after shut down but with the screen off, which would run down the battery.  I noticed this when one of mine was always low when I started up but the other fine.  Software update fixed it.  I've also noticed that if you power up but only briefly for something, sometimes they turn on and stay on (but at least after the update the screens are lit so you know it).

Do you have the LPM?  There have been some discussion about protecting the batteries from discharge with diodes or LPM.  Something to discuss with your installer as an option.
