MooneyMitch Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 Great article this morning in GA News on-line by Ben Sinclair. http://www.generalaviationnews.com/2011/10/27/stop-apologizing-for-ga/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=stop-apologizing-for-ga&utm_source=The+Pulse+Subscribers&utm_campaign=29d1542672-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email One of Ben's point's is that most folks don't really understand what general aviation is! Yep, seems to be true. See our GA Walking video on that. Point is, we all need to help do something to help educate, promote and protect ga and our ga airports. Let's go everyone! Time to get on the horse [or in your Mooney] and ride. You too can be an ambassador for general aviation. Quote

MooneyMitch Posted October 28, 2011 Author Report Posted October 28, 2011 Thank you Parker. That is true, however GA does play a huge part in the Fed Ex/UPS delivery service as quoted from AOPA's GA Serves America. "FedEx launched the guaranteed overnight delivery business in 1971. Since then, Americans have become addicted to overnight shipping. Whether it’s a new cardigan sweater from Lands’ End that arrives just in time for Christmas or urgent business documents needed for a meeting the next day, companies like FedEx, DHL, and UPS can guarantee the overnight delivery of your package or letter. Express shipping companies use huge cargo airplanes. But they also use a much greater number of smaller GA airplanes. These small airplanes bring packages and letters from hundreds of outlying cities and towns to the express shipper’s hub, where the packages can catch a ride on the big birds if needed. Most of these small cargo airplanes are not owned by the big shipping companies. Small, private firms own and operate single- or twin-engine GA airplanes on regional routes." Quote

jetdriven Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 They are all 135 carriers tnat supply the hubs from small airports. I did that too. FedEx and UPS use Part 91 contractors to service some of the less urban areas Parker. Quote
