I was thinking we should start a list of Mooney CFIs, possibly separated by state?  It could have their information, experience, and contact info.  What do y'all think?

I'm not availible right now, the Navy has me in Japan for the next couple of years running a SuperHornet Squadron, but when I get back to the States (East Coast most likely) I'll be happy to instruct.

I'd toss in John Pallente and Wayne Fisher. Wayne is a Master CFII in the desert SW and Palente is a career Nacca guy, so you learn a lot about the inner workings of ATC. John (last I recall) was based Atlantic City. Both teach high Alt.

We all seem to be tossing in names of established MAPA type people. I notice many new opportunities here in MS...dozens of guys who are CFI's. Parker, Byron, Jesse...I'd come to you, but you are all west of the MS. I need instruction too.

Oh and one other thing (not to pontificate). What happened? In FDK, MD there is a top notch flight school. Great fleet of planes and BS-AV-Grads...most from ERAU. They don't fly much, don't take on many students, basically work banker's hours and really not highly motivated. 7 years ago, if you walked up to the front desk of a flight school, any one of 7 to 10 CFI's would be waiting, headsets in hand, ready to pounce on a new student. They would be willing to fly long hours, at night, early mornings, etc. just to log time in some peice of Sh%$# 10,000 hour Skyhawk, . Is the ambivalence purely a function of airline hiring?

You would need to add the MAPA PPP instructor roster.  Some of the people on the roster such as Bruce J. And John Pallante have been mentioned.  Www.mooneysafety.com/instructor .  They are all very good Mooney instructors.  I have flown with Jack Napoli and Jerry Johnson.  Jack is the master of 231's .  Anything about that model, he would be the guy to contact.  His bird is immaculate. Jerry is a 10,000 CFII and ATP who flies a corp. jet and also owns a C and a J.  An absolute master at Instrument in the Mooney.  Wayne Fischer is very good and knows his Mooney mountain flying.  Owns a 252 and has around 10,000 hours also, but has a vision issue going on, you would need to contact him and find out if he can help, he was instructing this summer.  Don Kaye is a former PPP instructor.  All of these guys are class acts.  Quite literally, they have written the book on Mooney flying and maintenance.  You get a copy if you go to a PPP.

Our own Parker I can't help with because I have never met him, but maybe need to fix that some day.  Knows his stuff.

I am going to start up my Commercial with Bruce shortly.

John keeps his J model hangered at Cross Keys (N17) airport NJ although I am sure he is back and forth to the FAA in ACY.

I would love to know who the Mooney CFI and CFII are in Southern California. I have been lucky to find a couple CFII's that are either Mooney owners or had some Mooney experience but one has deployed.

If you're looking for Avidyne or Garmin glass cockpit training in the Denver area, Independence Aviation at Denver Centennial (KAPA) is an excellent resource. I've received instructions from 3 of their CFII's and they've all been outstanding with their knowledge of the glass. They're not Mooney-specific; in fact, they tilt towards Cirrus, but their glass cockpit transition training warrants my endorsement. http://www.ia-kapa.com/
