Actually I love the Debonair.   I have actually spent quite a bit of time in them.   I am just very uncomfortable purchasing anything manufactured before 1975 ish.   Not that there is anything special about 1975 or later aircraft I just have a thing about buying a plane that old for some reason.   At the end of the day I might not have a choice but it wont be my first choice.

Get “over it”? :)

Lead pipe, asbestos insulation, aluminum wires, lead paint...

Oops, thought we were discussing this old house... :)

Once a plane has 20years, and 2k hours of operation...

Many things can be worn out, timed out, aged, sun beaten, or just want replacement...

I devised a simple rule... don’t buy anything older than I am...

I’m just not that familiar with the norms of ancient history....   that would require learning how old stuff was made and cared for...

Simple rule that works... all Mooneys are newer than me... :)

Stay focussed... A Mooney makes a great first plane to own... Many people have moved up into turbine and twin equipment afterwards...

Not a lot of benefit  to skip any steps...

PP thoughts only, not a CFI...

Best regards,

I have clocks and firearms that are a LOT older than I am.  Some over a 100 years old.  Quality was quality back in the day too.  If maintained and used properly (not abused) they just work...Fear not just because old.

They have books and videos for that...

Knowledge assuages fear.
