carusoam Posted July 19, 2020 Report Posted July 19, 2020 170 is pretty good... The ability to climb higher is even better... This opens up the sport of modern day sailing... Really taking in a good tail wind... Johnathan Paul planned his super long cross countries sewing monster seasonal tail Winds together... to actually cross the country... Not that JP had a TN... but Modern day sailing is in! TNs in the right hands have a giant return on their investment... PP thoughts only, not a TN’d sailor... unfortunately... Best regards, -a- Quote
PJClark Posted September 27, 2020 Report Posted September 27, 2020 Did a little experiment today: How close can my Rocket get to delivering 162 KTAS on 201 gas (201 flat out at 75% power and around 11 gph ROP (my previous '78 J with every available speed mod))? The answer: 55% power, 26" 2200 rpm 1570 TIT, 10.7 gph LOP. Very close on "efficiency". But the engine isn't even trying hard, and I could reproduce that same power and IAS into the FLs....which would turn that up in TAS. I might be close, maybe within 1 GPH, even to @gsxrpilot and his stock 252 up high. Surprising. Amazing machine. Rrrrrocket! 1 Quote
