flyfast Posted June 23, 2020 Report Posted June 23, 2020 Hi guys. My Bravo is in the shop with a burnt exhaust valve. Now the shop says they cant get a cylinder. They are trying to rebuild it and cant get the parts from Lycoming. They say they can't get the valve seat for another three weeks. Any help would be appreciated! Quote
AustinAir Posted June 23, 2020 Report Posted June 23, 2020 I had a similar experience when I overhauled my Bravo engine last year. The wait from Lycoming was longer at that time than you mentioned now. As a result my engine shop overhauled my original cylinders. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 I believe the valve guides are exclusive to the TIO-540-AF1B engine. When my cylinders were overhauled that was the part that held it up 3 extra weeks. Quote
carusoam Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 Inviting @Danb to the discussion... You guys are probably ahead of Dan... We we’re discussing valve health and Bravos in a different thread a while ago... Best regards, -a- Quote
philiplane Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 Try Certified Engines Unlimited in Hollywood FL. KHWO. They have a huge inventory of parts. Quote
tls pilot Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 the Lycoming factory in Williamsport is shut down for three weeks and may be extended This could add to the wait Quote

kortopates Posted June 27, 2020 Report Posted June 27, 2020 Most of us down here use J&J. Have flown to Pleasanton several times to drop off or pick cylinders Plus they offer a nickel chrome finish and for some cylinders including my TSIO-360 and they’re the only ones that do. They’re affordable and good quality. My only complaint has been getting core deposits back - in fact they still owe me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
