Avoiding those scratches from the installing the bottom cowling is even harder to do than the upper cowling. Those are really bad. An industrial polisher can take those out if they're not too deep. But it will cost some thickness too in the process. Quote

Not the spinner itself, but the "closure" pieces at each prop blade. Also, how to fix it. Doesn't look like polish is going to take out those scratches. I would make new ones. I think you can buy those separately. 1 Quote

Hank Posted May 20, 2022 Report Posted May 20, 2022 California Gold, purple, is a great polish. But it won't help this. Before replacing them, spend $10-$15 on a bottle of California Gold green to clean it up, then use purple to make it shine. Quote
RLCarter Posted May 20, 2022 Report Posted May 20, 2022 Those scratches are pretty deep (can lead to cracks), replace them, new, used, fabricated.. Quote

That may be the only answer. I was hoping for a way to clean them up. A preliminary web search suggests that the prop bulkhead with fillets attached would be north of $800 used. Quote

Usually caused by shops that don’t have two people to lift the cowls off and on. Carelessness leaves some marks. Clarence Quote

I had one that cracked in half….. local sheet metal guy made me one in less than an hour, it fit better than the original. Best part…. No charge, but I ended up taking him to lunch a week or so later Quote
