And they hosed everyone on installs.... the new install manual basically requires a cheap plastic GPS antenna to be mounted on the glareshield.  And the new wire required is about $5 a foot, and is on backorder for 3-4 months

So does that mean a G3X install with a G5 backup would also be allowed for fiki?

I think the antenna is only if the G5 is not connected to a WAAS navigation unit.  That is, if you want to use the internal G5 GPS receiver you have to install the glareshield antenna rather than an external antenna.

Yes, but you literally cannot put a quality Ga35 or what have you in.  It has to be the cheapo antenna.  And I'm hearing the wire required is now backorder until July.

Yep, there was no limitations put on the g3x as far as FIKI. It was already legal if you use legacy backup gauges.
