My son is kind of the same way. He sees movies like XXX with Vin Diesel doing all these crazy stunts and thinks he can do them without any training or practice.  That’s why he got an artificial elbow at 22. At least he is still alive. Knock on wood....

It a skydiver thing....the guy that died was a sky/base jumper so supposedly he is used to hanging on aircraft. When you do something like this, you are supposed to prebrief the flight ,develop hand communications etc...sounds like this was not done ,and he kept hand over hand out to the wingtip till pilot lost aileron authority.Obviously he totally lost situational awareness to not notice plane he was hanging onto was losing altitude in a wingover dive.By the time he woke up and finally let go ,he was too low to open chute!

Years ago ,my wife at the time wanted to jump out of the litter basket attached to my Bell 47.No problem ,but we have to do it one way...I want you just to just gently step off the skid..no swan dive push off...also I will give you a three finger countdown,1,2,3 than stepoff so I have time to lower the collective and not go negative.Ok ,she says....we depart the drop zone and climb to 6000 as planned...I start the countdown making eye contact in the rear view mirrors on the shids.

Skids...of course she launches on two and does a push off that with her weight suddenly gone and the side ways impulse causes the heli to rock over and cause a near mast bump before I had a chance to reduce the collective....I landed in a near auto rotation and fortunately could find no damage. She lands beside me minutes later and wonders why I'm white as a ghost! We had one of our better arguments and that was the last time I ever jumped anybody, including all the other jumpers at the drop zone.
