Introduction: Aviongoo wants me to do a survey across multiple websites to determine the strongest features of a new approach to marketing aircraft.  They are only interested in positive feedback.  Negative feedback would overwhelm positive feedback simply because anything this different would be disruptive to the existing (always expensive) major listing services.

Background: The new approach to marketing used aircraft is to create a website specifically for the aircraft.  The domain name might be the registration mark for example.  Everything about the aircraft would be contained in the aircraft specific website.  A secure area would be provided for information the seller only wants to provide to serious buyer prospects.  Note that listing vendor branding is avoided as much as possible - the little you see now is just for advertising the marketing concept (the aircraft N123AB does not exist).

Gary, would any more be approriate?  Some forums do not like vendors much less details from vendors.  What else might be stated to better meet your expectations?  Personally, this is a data-entry task - I avoid flying in airplanes.

Ok.  I'd rather use an existing service to sell my plane because I know it gets hits.  As a buyer (right now), I limit my search to ASO, Trade-a-plane, and Controller.

Perhaps an example will interest you.

As a real example for someone on this topic, there was a 1975 aircraft listed on ASO erroneously as a 1976 aircraft back in the third quarter of 2006.  Later a guy named Yandle using the same registration number had an aircraft (the same one??)  listed on Trade-a-plane for a month at a price $24,000 less expensive.  More recently the aircraft was listed on Controller for two months in late 2010.  And it looks like some official FAA action was recorded on 4/14/2011 - which is why we are pretty sure the year is 1975 rather than the erroneous 1976 in the 2006 listing.  A price was not listed on the relatively recent Controller ad.  It does appear that the plane has only been in the air for an average of 50 hours in each of the last 4 years which is below the lifetime average.

The two different services mentioned in this thread are:

1. access to market history (this service has been marketed since 2007)

2. the original subject of the poll - the N123AB.info example (this is the new service)

The cost to be a Premium Member at Aviongoo is $10 per month and that includes access to all history information.

The cost for a custom domain for the aircraft you are selling is $10 per month.

eh.  I'd rather do a title search once I've really nailed down an aircraft.

Lots of planes have 1 year difference from the model year to the A/W date year.  it happens in aircraft sales and insurance.  I see it all th etime.

I can go look at maintenance logs and figure out the hours flown per year.

thanks though.

Magnet-

Being honest with you here. I went to your sample site and checked out it's features. I have to agree with someone above that the poll needs a "none of the above" option. I found nothing particularly interesting about your website and in fact, I prefer the traditional classifieds web interface. The hovering boxes were annoying and requires the user to learn how to use the site, not really what a buyer wants to spend their time doing. A dedicated website is not a new idea, or a bad idea, but your site design is clunky and not that appealing. Using a photo of the plane as wallpaper for the site is fine, but a traditional site with dedicated pages for diferent information IMO, is much better for the user. It's all about getting information in a clear, easy and precise way, not so much entertainment.

I know that you only wanted positive feed back, but I didn't know what else to do.

my computer did not like your site. I have no problem in participating in helping new aviation companies offer their services, and asking for feedback, but you must take the good with the bad. Most times negative comments are the best to assist in development. If you don't take the negative comments then you are not seeing the whole picture.

And we are a user friendly forum, next time intoduce yourself first, state what you are doing, then move forward. Just my personal comments.
