ziggysanchez Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) I purchased a 231 (N231JY) from Don Maxwell in October of last year and decided on a panel redo a couple months ago. I cameĀ out of an Avidyne equipped CirrusĀ and really enjoyed and became accustomed to the all glass panel. So I went with all glass in the new panel. We are in the final stages of completion now and thought I would post a few pics of the process. This is what we started with... First day of tear down.... Second day of teardown.... New circuit breaker panel..... Very clean work.... Back of main panel cleaned up... Fitting instruments. Everything is flush mounted. Radio stack.... Checking for fitment... First power up... Jallen0 Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 Can you share the estimate for labor and equipment? If I am dreaming I need to be accurate in my dreams! Ā Very nice work. Quote

Not sure what the laborĀ will be since my avionics guy has been letting me help do some of the work. Ā Ā 1 Quote

Jallen0 Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 Thank you. It's not as bad as I thought....assuming everything else on the imaginary plane I am thinking of buying doesn't need work Ā Quote

Is that the price you are sharing with your wife? 2 Aspens including EA100, JPI 900, Sandia 340, L-3 Lynx, PMA 450A (upgrade from 8000B), Avidyne 440 (upgrade from 430W), Garmin GNC Navcom Yes 40 is North of 25, just like Canada is North of Mexico. . lol 6 Quote

bradp Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 Who's doing your work Ziggy?Ā Very nice.Ā I really like that you are showing the back of the panel where the true art work is - totally well organized. Quote

Found most of it online and was able to trade some of my old stuff for credit. I got everything new except for one of the Aspens. I gotĀ a refurbished unit. I spent more than 25K but less than 30K. Ā Dennis Falasco at Omega Aircraft in Weatherford, OK. He does excellent work. The best work is definitely behind the panel. I don't know why moreĀ people don't show that part of it. That's part of the reason I shared it. Edited June 21, 2017 by ziggysanchez 1 Quote

ziggysanchez Posted July 12, 2017 Author Report Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Wanted to post an update on my new panel. Did part of the final installation today.Ā The rest of the installation andĀ configurationĀ begin tomorrow. So far it's looking great! Edited July 12, 2017 by ziggysanchez 6 Quote
mccdeuce Posted July 12, 2017 Report Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Beautiful panel. Ā I'm very jealous.Ā Only thing I can add - its on my soon to be done list is adding a nice panel mount for iPad mini behind copilot yoke. Runs the IFD100 app giving you a big screen for your 440 (and something pretty for my better half to play with)Ā http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/ifdrmount13-18919.php looking at that back picture of your panel - I really should clean mine out it's a nightmare back there with all the add on upgrades. ziggysanchez Posted July 12, 2017 Author Report Posted July 12, 2017 I'm going to mount my iPad in that area but nothing permanent as I upgrade often. It will be very clean though and sit very close to the panel. I'll post a picture when I get it mounted. Quote

But I have the old mini2 which is going as an extra screen for the IFD.Ā I will be interested in what you do - I might follow suit - your other work is so clean I'm sure this will look good too.Ā Quote
Oldguy Posted July 13, 2017 Report Posted July 13, 2017 Not seeing anything requiring vacuumĀ in the new panel. Is vacuum pump gone? Quote

Ā Everytime I see a picture, I need to take a double take that it isn't mine. Ā Quote
gsxrpilot Posted July 14, 2017 Report Posted July 14, 2017 Nope, completely different color... and missing an Aspen screen. 3 Quote
carusoam Posted July 14, 2017 Report Posted July 14, 2017 I like Steven757ās panel enough to copy it... there has got to be some significant savings in doing that as well... Cut and paste engineering work... 1) the equipment has already beenĀ selected, fitness for use is covered, no integration or fitment issues... 2) layout has been selected by people that fly a lot more than me... 3) InstallationĀ has been done before. Ā Doing it again should be a breeze... sort of. Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
