A suggestion to make this forum even more awesome. Would it be possible to make it so we could have photos inbedded in the body of the post? The vBulletin software does this by allowing the poster to provide a link to a photo somewhere else on the web. This feature IMO enhances the story telling ability or process narrative by having illustrations be part of the post instead of having them as sort of footnotes. An example would be when someone is doing a mod or repair to their plane and want to share with others, this allows them to create a step by step instructional narrative within the post.

Anybody else think this would be good?

All it will take is time and money....

Craig was clear that he threw this site together, and did a wonderful job I might add. He also provides the host server at his cost. There are no "paying" advertisers or sponsors, and we don't pay anything. So, IMHO, and not unlike our government, "good idea" demand resorces to implement.

So what's it worth to you ;-)

It was as simple as cut and paste.

right click on photo, click "copy", put it in text right click "paste".

I fell upon the simple procedure one day during a discussion of mooney speed and supplied panel shots....

Just running a test-

Ok- I've run a bunch of test posts here and I cannot make it work. Where do you need the image to be? On your hard drive or on the web, or on this site, like in the gallery? What browser do you use?

I just tried it myself.  Firefox will not allow pasting of graphics into the text.  On my Mac, Safari does allow this.

Who'da thunk it?

I picked photos out of the photo album on mooneyspace.  I am using an old Dell laptop with Windows XP.  Nothing special.

The following picture was selected from an attached photo.  The procedure to follow would be attach the photos and then copy and paste into your text as appropriate.

Hawg and Mooney

This particular photo was posted to an old thread related to an A-10 pilot helping out a mooney pilot with a cloud problem.

Newborn in my front yard.

This one was attached first then copy / paste into text.  (I left the attached photo at the bottom).

note: photos from the gallery receive a black outline around the photo.  Attached photos seem to lose their black outline.  Attached photos do not carry their caption through the cut and paste process.

On further review, not able to do the same direct from my hard drive or from other websites....

Well, if Craig is done with this site and doesn't want anymore suggestions for this site, he should change the name of this forum to just Bug Reports. My suggestion really shouldn't be confused with criticism. It wasn't intended that way.

I believe what's happening is that when you copy/paste from a Mooneyspace photo album, you're actually copying the URL of that photo and that is why it works.  Notice that clicking on any of these photos opens them up. But has anyone tried doing this from a photo OUTSIDE of Mooneyspace?

Ok, trying another test with Safari this time.

Oooh. It worked! Guess I have to use Safari with this forum.

Well, I found out that if you do get a photo in there, don't try to go back and edit the post. It ends up doing some seriously wacky stuff! I cannot for the life of me remove the large space below the photo above. It was caused because I tried to edit text in that post. Well, it kind of works anyways. I'll keep experimenting.

Dave,

I usually have my son with me when we go to adventurous places.

If I had one of these devices I would not be afraid of getting stuck.  It took three of us to push out of the soft grass at KOSH.

Now, I have gone back and edited to see if anything goes wild....
