But is it better than the new Teledyne Alphabeam that Aircraft Spuce is selling?  I'd really like a solution that can then be set up to flash for anti-collision avoidance.

I notice in the STC, and read somewhere else that I now can't recall, that the limitation to PAR36 installations means those of us with nose-cone landing lights can't use this.  I don't know if this is correct or not, because I don't even know what "PAR36" means.

Can someone enlighten me (pun very much intended!)?

All this LED certification and STC approval is going awfully slowly.I need to find urgent a solution for my old belly rotating beacon which is broken. There are the following options I think, trying to avoid the old pee potty drooping from the tail:

- replace the tail position light by a whelen postion/strobe light (requires installation of an additional power supply don't know how this works out for the wiring...I could re-use the rotating beacon wires and add the pow supply for the tail strobe..(Is this allowed..)

- go for a Aveo Red Baron anti collision light ...set back its not STCed for the mooney..They claim an international STC (honestly I have no clue what this means...I only know FAA and EASA..;-).. I think its great except it not certified for Mooneys yet even don't know if its in production already...

- go for a bulcky Whelen belly LED solution..

Advise welcomed..;-))

I've been bugging Bryan at Whelen for months.  He told me that they will be out before Jan11.  Spruce called Whelen last week and now confirms; but not yet in stock.

Ask Bryan: bbochinski@whelen.com

Whelen told me in October that the lamps are ready, but they are waiting on the STC paperwork to be filed.  So Whelen has the  STC for sure.  I'll buy mine as soon as I return from Asia in March.

Yes. The battery is a 12v battery but the electrical system operates on 14v.  Newer J's and long-bodies use a 28v system with one (or two) 24v batteries.

Yes, I totally remember this now, but in my sick-induced fog I had forgotten.  I also just told my aide to, "have a great weekend," and it was Wednesday, so go figure.

I'll order it next month when I get back from Asia.  Right now I'm having a rough time playing golf in 90° in Thailand.

Greeting to all y'all; keep nice and warm! Nicholas, 36V
