zerotact Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Are there any available Schematics for a 1982 J available online? I have recently notice my gauges dancing a bit, and I recently put a cigar lighter mounted volt meter into the panel and am reading 13.1V I assume I need to troubleshoot the typical, grounding issues, Voltage Regulator, or maybe failed diode in my Alternator. Any Help would be appriciated Quote
carusoam Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Have you tried your POH for the basics and a couple of ideas? The maintenance manual will have more detail. Best regards, -a- Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 I have a good collection of schematics that I bought on EBAY. The problem is each one is two E sized sheets. Kind of hard to scan. Quote
kmyfm20s Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Look on Don Maxwell's web site. I recall reading something to the fact that it is caused by light corrosion on the master switch contacts and you can simply clean them to fix it. Quote
PTK Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Which gauge is dancing? My ammeter started dancing a few flights after I had master replaced at annual. The amplitude of the dancing back and forth about the zero center seems to be in synch with RPM. In idle on the ground it's barely noticeable but in cruise it very noticeable. But the voltage is rock solid. Also it stopped one day and I thought it went away but returned. When I get bored one day I'll remove master and clean contacts. I 'm not convinced it's that because it was just replaced with a brand new master. But never know I guess. A&P seems to think it's the ammeter itself. My gut says it's not. In fact, You might be able to just press on them and get the dancing to stop. If it does, well, you found your culprit. Quote
