Landing Gear Motor Rebuild

Recommended Posts

I tend to be of the preventative maintenance camp.  I was going to do the no-back clutch spring SB, but since I have about 2300 hours on my landing gear motor, I was wondering if it might just be worthwhile to put in a rebuilt motor while it was being worked on.  Any thoughts?  How many hours before you had your landing gear motor rebuilt and where did you have it done?

That's what I would do. You have it apart...

Looks like we probably won't be rebuilding the motor, after all.  My mechanic doesn't have any experience with the no-back spring, but I'm still weighing having him do that as the potential of having it break makes me nervous (is it difficult without experience?).  Those of you who have just had the spring replaced...how many hours have you been billed for just having the spring replaced?  Thanks.

I haven't priced the part yet, but if I don't go ahead and do it, I might just buy a kit and hold onto it to spread out the pain of the landing gear motor rebuild.  I'm starting to lean towards waiting at least another year.  Thanks for your feedback Jim.
