AndyFromCB Posted February 16, 2015 Author Report Posted February 16, 2015 Bought a turbine, was going to upgrade Bravos panel, decided against it. Keeping the Bravo as my personal toy, but it will not be doing any major upgrades, as I don't see it flying any major IFR. Plus it already has the WX-1000E so if don't upgrade to G500, it's nice having the mini EFIS approach display right next to my HSI. Just having a heck of a time justifying blowing thru $80K for a panel upgrade for an airplane that will most likely be a 50 to 75 hour a year toy for hopping out to Denver or Chicago if the weather is nice. So I'm just getting rid of some gear I had sitting around for the upgrade that I could never time just right before with needing the airplane. Now I just don't see the need for it. Quote
PTK Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Is this the Series II Stormscope Weather Mapping Sensor? I have the WX900 and have kicked around the idea of going to the 500 so I can overlay wx on the GTN750. How's the installation going from 900 to 500, any idea? Quote
Alan Fox Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Lancaster quotes 25 to 40 hours for install , and yes it is the Series two....... You may save a few hours because you may not have to map the fuselage for a spot to mount the antenna , as there is already an antenna mounted , also the antennas are physically identical so you will be able to swap them out without any fabricating , you will still have to run the power and data wires , since the processor is usually in the empennage , the antenna cable will be easy......It will display on almost every MFD made in the last 15 years or so.... fantom Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 That is an excellent unit at a very fair price. Quote
