ncdmtb Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Which FAR/AIM do you use for your electronic flight bag? I am wondering which FAR/AIM version you use? ASA, Sporty's, etc. there are quite a few choices. Which one is best? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Jeff_S Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I have it downloaded from within ForeFlight as part of their documents package. There is no charge for it this way (other than ForeFlight's normal charges). The ForeFlight document review software is pretty good and that way it's part of my flying repertoire.
ncdmtb Posted February 15, 2015 Author Report Posted February 15, 2015 I have heard a lot about Foreflight. Unfortunately it is not available in Europe, so that is not an option for me. I will be one of the first to switch, when it becomes available though ;-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Bob - S50 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 For the AIM, just Google "Airman's Information Manual PDF". You can download the PDF version for free. I can't seem to find the FAR's that way though. Bob
carusoam Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 WingX has a copy in it... Best regards, -a-
midlifeflyer Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 If you have internet access, the current AIM is at https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/ATpubs/AIM/. The current FAR is at http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=d805d6526d85860a4e68bb191020c172&tpl=/ecfrbrowse/Title14/14tab_02.tpl If you insist on an app, Check ASA. I don't know if they are still doing it or if it was a promo, but last year they were offering it for a single price, including future updates. It seems to be kept relatively current. 1
RocketAviator Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 2012 version here, http://propilot.aero/Assets/FAR/FARAIM%202012.pdf I am also intrested in locating the latest searchable PDF version if anyone knows of one
midlifeflyer Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 2012 version here, http://propilot.aero/Assets/FAR/FARAIM%202012.pdf I am also intrested in locating the latest searchable PDF version if anyone knows of one Consider the value of a 3-year old publication that is probably 4 years out of date. That's a minimum of 6 AIM revisions and who knows how many regulatory ones. Including a change just a month ago. Consider: if you have a "2015 FAR/AIM" in printed form, it is already out of date. The most current downloadable PDF version is from the FAA. The link to is is here: https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/

Where exactly is the downloadable FAR you state?
midlifeflyer Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Where exactly is the downloadable FAR you state? Not "downloadable." "Viewable." Both of the links I gave in that post. (I gave a link to a downloadable PDF of the AIM in a later post). What we call the FAR is Chapter I of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Clicking the link I gave should bring you there.

Yes I'm aware but I'm looking for download able and preferably searchable.

Marauder Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Yes I'm aware but I'm looking for download able and preferably searchable. Lacee -- do you have an iPad? If so, you could download it into iBooks and you would be able to search it.
midlifeflyer Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Boy am I glad I stopped worrying about this stuff to this level of detail. Most of it doesn't matter, unless is does.
midlifeflyer Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Yes I'm aware but I'm looking for download able and preferably searchable. For the FAR, try here. Scroll down to Title 14. Just be aware that this is current only as of January 1, 2014.. For the AIM, you probably already grabbed this since the link was posted earlier.
