Mine once bought me three introductory lessons, a logbook and the FAA Airplane Flying Handbook for my birthday so I could finally get it out of my system. That was 24 years ago. She was eventually my first passenger and has flown as my best passenger ever since.

My flying "career" started on a Christmas morning, 1968, with 2 hours of lessons and a couple of pilot books under the tree. She says I never opened the rest of my gifts. I was flying N3224F, a '67 M20E, by August 1970. I have another E and the same copilot.

Wahhhhh! I want a wife! All the cool kids have one.

Actually, my dearly beloved suggested flying lessons almost 40 years ago to the stir-crazy mother of infants as an excuse to take a morning off from time to time...brushed off protests of what was and what was not affordable, ("Psychiatry, now THAT is expensive," quoth he. "We can afford flying lessons.") He hadn't counted on Mooney ownership. He is the best right-seater anybody could ask for, reasonably familiar with the essentials, and totally cool, no matter how justifiably terrified the pilot is. Believe I will keep him around.

My wife spent this Valentine’s Day with me and our two little girls (2-1/2 yo and 1 yo) crammed in our C model for 9 hours.  Battling headwinds and going from someplace warm to someplace cold. She didn't complain once.  The day before we battled headwinds for 3-1/2 hrs and had to divert due to a rough running engine (turned out to be a bad plug).  Still no complaints from her.  She did say we should start looking for a bigger plane.

We spent 3 hours in the plane going to visit our grandson.  She was happy even siting in the back with the dog.  :D My son had the right seat.
