Joe Zuffoletto Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 So, what do you get the man who has everything for his 50th birthday? A drone, of course! Specifically, a Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter with built-in camera on gimbals, fully controllable while airborne with an iPhone or iPad. Coolest gift ever! Unfortunately, I crashed it on its maiden voyage and broke the built-in camera. The quadcopter itself, however, somehow survived unscathed. After a few more test flights I finally mastered flying it, more or less. So today I decided to velcro my GoPro Hero3 camera onto the front of the built-in camera and see if I could finally get some aerial footage. Here's my rig: And here's the video of today's inaugural flight: I have a feeling I'm going to get addicted to this thing.... Quote
Marauder Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Sounds like you have the potential to become a Peeping Joe Pretty neat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Marauder Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Just watched the video. That was amazing. It sounds like a swarm of bees! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
Danb Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Joe I have a friend who is totally addicted to those. Must have a gazillion dollars tied up that with a ga. Really cool was wondering where you hid the mountains then saw the ridges at the 1:20 mark..is it faster than your Acclaim? Have fun and a great time.. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Awesome. Just frigg'n awesome. The sky is gonna be full of these. I want one with "whisper mode" Quote
RocketAviator Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 Way cool, Ive been thinking about getting one. However cant bring myself to do it since I already have more than a dozen RC aircraft, helicopters and one RC boat that I can never seem to find enough time to fly. Here is some mages of my next to last RC build of a scale model of my Rocket which I refer to as "mini me"! I am very interested in FPV, may attempt to attach video to one of my RC's. I know you will have a bast! 1 Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted June 1, 2014 Author Report Posted June 1, 2014 RocketAviator: I followed your construction of "Mini-Me" on this board with great interest. You did a helluva job. Definitely not your first rodeo! Have you flown it yet? ROP or LOP? Quote

Until break in, then switch to LOP.... After all it's a Rocket and if you think a gallon of 100LL try a gallon of 15% Nitro! Lol Have a brother in Denver we try to get up that way from time to time, maybe catch up on one of the trips would be cool to see you fly your craft... Well maybe not as that might just push me over the preverbal got to have one! Lol Quote
