DaV8or Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Seems like a tube out the window should work. Either the vinyl tube like in the video, or a PVC tube with a cap and a hole. Get some BBQ ash and go experiment. Good use for the auto pilot. Quote
Guest Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I still have the tube in my hangar, I'll take some pictures tomorrow. Clarence Quote
AmigOne Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 I guess we are talking about being sentimental and wanting to scatter the ashes of a Mooney pilot from a Mooney because there is a better and neater way, Cremation Solutions http://www.cremationsolutions.com/Cremation-Scattering-Ashes-Services-and-Providers-c33.html Quote
RocketAviator Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Well all I have scattered ashes from my Mooney today. Had never even seen it done. Probably Should have read this thread first. It was not a big deal for me and absolutely no ash in the plane or paint even remotely compermised. Was a very successful event no issues. I Would personally never try to drop bags or throw bags out window or door..... Quote

carusoam Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Congratulations on the fine distribution of the departed... What method did you use? -a- Quote
meddesign Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 after a long time this thread popped up so I thought I would up date. I tried the long tube all the way to the tail skid, it did not work with fire place ashes. I was informed that the body could be some large pieces so I tried a 1" tube out the vent window about to the middle of the rear window, that worked great with fireplace ashes but did but put a little on the tail, not so much that a rinse with a hose would not take care of it. The job never happened I can not remember why, but now I have a 3 or 4 ft piece of 1" dia. plastic tube on my tubing pile should I ever need it. Quote
RocketAviator Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 What method did you use? -a- I came up the idea when after posting this request I saw an old mail tube that had plastic caps on each end on my mother in laws desk. Using a section of that tube, two hose clamps, a short piece of 3/4 PVC, 2 3/4X1/2 T, 1/2 sch 80 nipple, some safety tie wire, small pulley, SS screw & washer, length of vinyl cloth line. Mounted one end on tail tie down the other on the inspectin plate on the tail belly. Safety wired the ends just for a little extra security! All in less than 2 hrs from idea to first test flight! Was a success as I did not have a choice it was a promise my mother in law made to my deceased father in law. Quote
