Mooney Round The World Flight Project Amelia Earhart 1937 2017

Are those radiation patterns for a specific polarization? The way the antenna is mounted we would expect strong signal perpendically... but some of the patterns seem to approach an isotropic source which is quite surprizing. Yves- 439 replies

Camping equipment at KOSH with Caravan arrivals
yvesg replied to Bob_Belville's topic in General Mooney Talk
We've been to Airventure the last 4 years and did not have a night where the temperature was too hot or humid to sleep well. For people that snore (like my wife), and loud neighbors, ear muffles are the best. I use them almost every night. The only problem I found is that there are airplanes taking off very VERY early in the morning. Those war birds and jets taking off at 7AM get through the ear muffles no problem. Yves -
Putting vinyl ("decals") on your plane

Found this rare photo of the first Mooney that was auctioned a few years back that I took in Madison. Full of decals and it flew like this. Yves -
Camping equipment at KOSH with Caravan arrivals
yvesg replied to Bob_Belville's topic in General Mooney Talk
Bob, there are two reasons you might not want too big of a tent. 1. As some mentionned: wind. We stop having issues when we stop taking our 6/8 persons Taj Mahal to Oshkosh. The location where the Caravan usually camps (west side of the field) is quite windy at times because of predominant winds. 2. The other reason is when they pack aircrafts, a big tent barely fits in the remaining space between them. It is quite worrysome to leave the tent for several hours when you have to worry about your tent rolling around and damaging those half a million dollar jewels. Sleeping bags have the advantage of keeping you warm even if the air is cold. Looking forward to see you and Nancy again in OSH. Yves & Diane -

His path on the tracker seems to be erratic. Technical problem with his device maybe? http://projectameliaearhart.org/tracker/map.php Yves- 439 replies

How do you guys empty the excess water when all the ice has melted? Anyone thought of putting a T valve to send the water outboard with the pump through a fitting and hose? Yves

Before you do this, double check the requirement in Canada. There are several aircrafts around with small letters. I do not think custom officers will care. Yves -
Who is Antoine? Yves

Can you wax on top of vinyl? Or is vinyl shiny enough you don't ever need to wax? Yves -
It was a great day for Brianna: Airplane ride, car ride, lawn tractor ride. Yves

John, in my case, this has become a MUST every summer since I started. Wife and I are now planning our summer (which does not last long here) around Oshkosh and the Mooney Caravan. We'll see you there! Yves

M20 C uncommanded gear extension
yvesg replied to Urs_Wildermuth's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I had one such event a few months ago while flying formation with Ned. Same model, same year... Since then I pay more attention to the way I latch it after take off and it has not happened since. I believe it was not properly latched by inattention. Maybe lubbing this will help ease the mechanism in place? Yves -
Best bet is Oshkosh Wisconsin during AirVenture. We had a get together that included over 30 Mooneyspacers if I recall right. Yves

You Googled the Accutrak? I am having trouble reading your text Hank... too much beer? No I got it... the autocorrect again!

When I borrow my friend's oxygen tank on a long multi-day trip (in case I need to fly high altitude), I would systematically use it 8K and above. I found out that it PREVENTS becoming tired when I fly long that high. (3 - 4 hour legs) I do not know if using it after will get rid of the tireness but I doubt it. Yves
-
Mission accomplished. New tire installed. The floor jack on the picture was put there as a safety after removing the wheel and was not touching the axle. Thanks all. Yves

I am based near Ottawa and fly to Toronto area from time to time. Which airport do you do your training at? I will let you know when I fly around. Yves
-
Thanks folks. I will let you know how things went in about a week.... One last question: How many inches of jack play do you need to rise approximately for the wheel to rise up assuming pucks are in good shape? Yves

Have a short body.
