  1. 2.5 ounces of the clear Bombay, 3.4 ounces of the blue fever tree, and the juice freshly squeezed from a half a lime?
  2. Perhaps you should consider changing the name to Mooney's Landing?
  3. Tommy, What Eric is saying is that in a car, there are many design features that are Incorporated to increase the delta T (Extend the time of the deceleration). This is done by sensors up front predicting the crash and crumple zones to extend the time of the crash. Its hard to see how a self contained unit can be effective (fast enough ) to increase the delta T. I agree with Eric, I'm skeptical. I"m having a hard time seeing how this is going to be effective. It will deploy, but will it be effective. Might just be a waste of money. Tony
  4. how long did it take?
  5. Really nice Bob, looking forward to seeing more pictures.
  6. The FAA says my F is a 67 but my serial number begins with 68. I really don't care since the IPC identifies by serial number. The question I have is, what POH do I need to have in the cockpit to be legal? a 67 or a 68?
  7. As the speedometer cable ages, they are known to have a bit of friction. The cable stops (binds), then frees up goes and kinda acts like a spring. I would replace the cable to see if it stops before doing much digging into the engine. You can try to drop a light oil in the cable to see if it helps for a little while.
  8. Tamara, that’s an awesome video. Thank you for creating and posting it. I very much appreciate the effort.
  9. Mechanical or electronic rpm gauge?
  10. I have a 68 F model and I only see about a 1/2 clearance between the firewall and the nut. Cant wait to see the video. Thank You.
  11. that would be awesome if you could do that!!
  12. its normal on a hot day
  13. you're missing the point
  14. Lance, I know I'm a poor communicator but you just said the same thing I did. An AHRS is an attitude heading reference system. Thats Avidyne should have incorporated into the 550 instead of the ARS.
  15. I think that was a design error Avidyne made with the 550. You are correct, to get full SV you must provide an AHRS input. They should have incorporated that in the 550 design and not require the input. That is where the flight path vector will come from on the display. Without that input, you will not get the FPV. I made a suggestion a few years back to them that they should use an AHRS instead of just a attitude source. Fell on deaf ears. You'll get the functionality you're looking for from foreflight and a stratus 2.
  16. There's a huge difference. You get what you pay for.......
  17. Buying an airplane never makes economic sense. Its an emotional decision. You buy an airplane because you want one, not because you need one. That being said, there is nothing like sitting in the cockpit and knowing everything is the way you left it. Doing what you want, when you want. That's hard to do if you have to share......
  18. I don't know if its standard procedure but it works. In my airplane I had the A/P install and override switch on a 337. So I don't have to blow in the pitot tube anymore.
  19. My F, serial number 6800XX, has an airspeed switch. No squat switch. Don't you just love how they changed the design in the middle of a production year.
  20. My number 2 used to run hotter than the rest too. The change I made was to make sure the baffle in the front of the cylinder doesn't have an air tight fit and that a little air can sneak past it in the front. The way that cylinder in made, if you have silicone sealed the baffle to the engine, it's easy to block the airflow through the front fins.
  21. Before you start digging into the retraction system, did you remember there is an airspeed pressure switch. Gently blow into the pitot tube and see if the gear. come.up.
  22. http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/article210737729.html sad end to the story.
  23. Personally, I'd be worried about that cam, hanging up there in the air, with no oil on it for 8 years, pitting. If that happened, the cam will be OK for a hundred hours or so and then it will gall. As long as you priced in an engine overhaul, then there will be no surprises.
  24. I would stay away from slicks. Lots of experience here. They don't last. Stay with Bendix.
