Send a picture to Divco in Tulsa and see if they can repair it. Case repair is all they do. If they can't repair it they keep a stock of overhauled cases they will sell. There are plenty of shops that will repair the case as long as the other internal parts are still within limits. It's not really any different that a prop strike tear down.

Assuming the conversion was done with with the Lasar STC you would have to contact them or either look in your paperwork and see it there is any other engines that can be used. If everything else in the engine is still good its likely you can have the case repaired and the engine reassembled with minimum parts replaced for under 10K.

Now just add a vector thrust nozzle for verticle takeoff and landing.

Didn't realize you were Vic's neighbor. My brother purchased the Sim's RV 6 from another of his neighbors a couple of years ago. Vic did the prebuy and has helped him with it a few times since. I've also saw governor gasket screens in similiar condition as they are never cleaned until the governor needs replacing.

You should be able to get it out pretty easily if your hand is small enought to reach it. Safety wire takes a little practice.

I've had the door pop open once also. It opens about 2 inches and stays there.

Check out the flying over there. There used to be a nice glider operation on the north shore of Oahu.

This was from a few years ago when we overhauled it. I regret not making more pictures, but never seemed to think about it until the end of the day.

The crank doesn't get anywhere near the oil in the sump. The 3 slots in the center is where the oil drains back into the sump. The round hole in the upper right is the oil fill tube opening. Unless you have a cam oiling mod the only oil the cam gets is what comes from around the rod and main bearings and is slung off the crank as well as what is splattered around from the pistons via the piston oilers.

1/8- .73 lbs per sq ft 3/16- 1.09 lbs per sq ft 1/4- 1.46 lbs per sq ft Also note that it takes about 3.5 times the energy to break the 1/4" as it does to break the 1/8"

Suggestions for taking 80+ yr old passengars

We have two who are in their middle 80's. Both still fly x-country regularly and one still flys IFR regularly. -

Does the CGR-30 not include free software for plotting the data? I've keep all my JPI files since the 1st test flight after overhaul. -
Much easier to get forgiveness than permission.

On a similiar note I saw where Kelly had recently purchased the Tempest line of pma magneto replacement parts for both Slick and Bendix.

My company policy allows the use of "Personal Vehicles" and will reimburse at $.56 per mile. A common destination commercial flight including connections, drive to airport and claiming bags is usually around 7 hrs. The same flight in the Mooney is 2:20 plus a short drive to airport. It means that instead of getting up at and leaving at 4am going to airport I can leave at 9am and still get there at the same time as coworkers. It also means that I can leave after work on Thursday afternoon and fly back home while the coworkers spend Thursday night in hotel and most of the day Friday getting back home. It also allows leaving a little earlier or staying a few hrs extra if needed.

I replaced my 830 with a 900. Many of the probes and a couple of the harnesses are the same pn. The 900 is a completely new head. I purchased the entire 900 kit and they sold the 830 head with the new sensors and harness that came with the 900. Otherwise it would be hard to sell the 830 with only half the sensors as they are expensive if purchased seperately. By selling the 2 year old 830 with new probes I recovered most all of what I paid for it.

Do you remember what it looked like? Here are several to choose from. https://www.aspwholesale.com/alternator-parts/nippondenso/rectifier.html

Drill and fit them 1st. Then remove for painting.

According to news reports the Sheriff reported that the FAA Investigator said the plane was overweight.

Not to start a Slick/Bendix debate or a overhauler bashing. I recently noticed what at 1st appeared to be a very good deal on Overhauled Slick Mags at Aircraft Spruce. It was to good to be true, they were advertising overhauled exchanged mags for ~$550. This is less than half the cost of just the parts alone to overhaul the Slick mags per the Slick Overhaul Manual. After asking some very specific questions and a couple of emails they finally confirmed that these are not overhauled per the Slick Manual. Kelly had developed and got approved their own internal procedure they are overhauling them to. It's completely legal for them to do this, but just beware of what parts are being replaced and what is being reused. They are reusing the Coil, distributor block/gears and condenser. They originally posted my questions and Kelly's replys but have since removed them. The word overhauled can have different meaning, if something is considerably cheaper start asking questions until you find the reason it's so much cheaper. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/slickmag4300oh.php?clickkey=4368

I asked them to add a timer a year or so ago. I keep hoping to see it soon. It would be a nice addition.

Plane power was purchased by Kelly Aerospace(Hartzell) a couple years ago. It has likely went the way of their other products.

Although not related, the picture shows a dented fuel supply line on the rear cylinder as well as what looks like aluminum Adel clamps. These are covered by an AD that do not allow any dents and the Lycoming part number clamp is steel.

Without Foreflight, Garmin would have never developed Garmin Pilot. They were forced to due to loss of market share. They would still be selling us their $1500 handheld devices and charging us to update each of the 3 databases on them. Until Foreflight gives me a serious reason to look elsewhere I'll stick with Foreflight.

Would it be possible to have donation drives 2 times a year? If the banner gets left up all the time some may not realize it's been a while since they donated. I don't mind donating more or more often, if the 2 drives a year would not work, then perhaps there is some kind of funding status bar that could be added. A graduated scale that is red, yellow and green would let us know the needs.
