BUT WHY ARE THEY YELLING AT ME
-
Still questioning the reasoning here. Part of being focused is picking the right tool for the job. A messageboard forum is a pretty bizarre solution to the problem of needing to talk to your customers. Have they heard of email in Kerrville yet? Even a webchat function, as companies like Apple and Verizon use for support inquiries, would make more sense. Like I said before, if you really need a forum, the solution is pretty obvious. You’re looking at it right now. It makes more sense if they want everyone else to be able to read their answers. But still. That’s what FAQs and Knowledge Base articles are for.

2020: - bought a Mooney. Accomplished! 69 hours so far. 2021: - seal the tanks - instrument rating - fly a lot - go cool places - don't go broke

I didn't take a position. All I did was try to explain the lower price. I have Aero-Lites LEDs in my plane (albeit interior lights only). My landing lights are a pair of Parmetheus Pros and I've been very happy with them. Then again, probably a solid 40% of my recent flying has been at night.

Could not agree with these more. Building a community as a goal in itself is completely the wrong goal, not to mention a doomed business strategy. You're an aircraft manufacturer, not a social network. I don't understand how as an owner I am supposed to feel supported by rolling out bizarre blogs bragging that other brands suck and a forum platform that, let's be honest, is going to be a ghost town most of the time. If having a forum is so critical to the brand, why didn't they buy MooneySpace and rebrand it? Social media is not what I think of when I think of good customer support. When I think of good customer support, I think of having the parts or answers I need, delivered in a reasonable amount of time, sold at a reasonable price. I think of innovative modifications that I can actually afford that add real value to my aircraft. I think of a new plane I can drool over that incorporates the latest innovations of the industry yet remains true to the Mooney brand, which has always stood for the best combination of speed and efficiency. Obviously marketing and lifestyle branding are a big part of it, just look at Cirrus. But it has to be tied to substance. Please spend your time on that instead of trying to be Mooney Facebook. The copy is embarrassing. I have no idea what that "Own It" nonsense is trying to say. Apparently "plane" and "aircraft" are different things, and one of them is Good and the other is Bad, because reasons. Poach someone from Cirrus's marketing department for Godsakes. I don't want to overreact to the mere launch of a website, but I am more concerned about Mooney's viability than I was before today. Tough crowd, eh?

"When You Own a Mooney, You Don't Own a Plane, You Own an Aircraft. When You Fly a Mooney, You're Not a Pilot, You're an Aviator. So Yeah... Own It!" ?????????????

How many Mooneys are based at your home field?
ZuluZulu replied to RLCarter's topic in General Mooney Talk
The SEE Force! There's @jonhop's J, @BaldEagle's J, @kortopates's Encore, my MSE, and at least one other MSE and one C that I know of. That's at least six, probably more. Plus there's a (presumably unflyable) short-body on display at Golden State. -
Definitely looking forward to seeing how the GTN 750 and GNC 355 stack looks together. I've been thinking about adding a GPS 175 or GNC 355 to give me a secondary MFD screen and backup GPS. I don't really *need* the additional COMM function, but my audio panel supports three COMMs, so when you really think about it, I'm wasting that capability without another radio...

Mine were installed when new, but the gentleman's name is Monroy, not Monroe. I love them. It's as if I can fill the rear seats with gas instead of people (but not both).

This thread is useless without photos. Bring on the panel porn!

Interested in purchasing a J model, have some questions

On speed brakes, you might be interested in @donkaye's thoughtful article on the subject here. -

I missed some obvious ones: Monroy long-range tanks (which I have), O&N bladders, and speed brakes (which I also have). -

That's true. I didn't think of it because I was always looking for an '89 or newer that had them. Still though, it's another cosmetics-only mod. -

What do you mean by STCs? Avionics upgrades and engine/prop swaps are obvious but it seems you mean airframe mods. Most Mooney airframe mods are retrofitting the J's refinements to earlier models, not modifying the J itself. I can't think of any relevant airframe STCs (which as @EricJ mentioned may not even necessarily require an STC) in my three years of scouring the market other than: the single-piece belly mod for earlier J's, the LoPresti cowl (very rare), quick-drain oil, wingtip fairings (also for early J's, and which are good for looks only, not speed), engine/oil pre-heater systems, Rosen visors, and the ram air delete mod since ram air doesn't really do anything for a J. What am I missing, fellow members of the Mooneyhive? -

WTB Garmin 430 non WAAS and KX155 14V
ZuluZulu replied to L39Driver's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
I'm selling a KX 155, but I'm guessing your 172 is 14V instead of 28V. On the off-chance 28V works, here's my listing: -
OP has also been offered an MSE ride. Try 'em all!

Another happy Lightspeed customer here, and their customer service has also helped me in ways they didn't have to. I use a PFX and I have two Zulu 3s and one Sierra for the passenger seats.

TruTrak Autopilot Pre Order's / Status Update
ZuluZulu replied to Jeev's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
My name isn't So Cal, and I don't remember saying it hurt my feelings. I'm only wondering what injecting a politician's imagined policies into the discussion has to do with Mooneys and autopilots. -

Thanks for the clarification, and I appreciated the detailed description of your procedures! -

So are you pulling the "mixture to idle" (which, I would think, kills the engine) or did you mean pulling throttle to idle? It sounds from the rest of your description that you still have power but later mentioned restart procedures, so that's why I ask.
