  1. We need the rear-facing wingtip position lights to go LED too! Don't forget those, Whelen!
  2. BTW, sorry if I missed it or forgot but did you end up going with the IO-390? Curious about early PIREPs...
  3. I have them, from James too. I've certainly never struggled to see since putting them in!
  4. Would be interested.
  5. Thanks to @Jeev, best prices I could find!
  6. This is exactly what I'm doing!
  7. Would suggest the same about Aero Accessories (KVNY). They haven't IRANed my mags (YET!) but did a great job IRANing my alternator.
  8. What prop(s) does it fit?
  9. According to a recent thread on Beech Talk, Horizon is indeed shutting down.
  10. Please let me know if Charles passes on the JPI...
  11. No more convincing proof of losing sense of smell than this! Hope you keep feeling better.
  12. I've heard good things about Lafayette Avionics secondhand, but their website currently says they are booked through February 2022. https://avionics-laf.com
  13. This is great advice but I would say: be in somewhat of a hurry. Not in a hurry to buy a plane, any plane, but to be prepared to move on the right plane once you've found it. I bought my J last July and the market has only exploded since then. Good planes are going really, really fast right now. Do your homework and all your prep ahead of time so that when you learn how to recognize a good one, and you do, you'll be ready to pull the trigger on a deposit and pre-buy before it goes under contract to someone else. You've already done a lot to clearly define what you want and what you're looking for, so you're close. But I agree on not rushing this. Just learn to recognize a good plane and be ready to schedule a pre-buy with financing preapproval in place when you find one. Also AOPA Finance isn't the only option. I had a really great experience with Dorr and would not hesitate to use them again if I'm ever back in the market.
  14. I was looking at an M20J that had both at one point. My plan was to use the cowl light like a jet pilot friend used his nosegear landing light: it is always off unless and until I'm cleared by ATC to land. Then flip the switch. That way there is always a handy indicator of whether or not landing clearance was received (as least, as long as the discipline exists to adhere to the plan). I ended up with an MSE, though, so there went my tri-pointed landing light dreams.
  15. Would you predict a similar reduction for "Pilot Pete"? Pilot Pete in 2020: 34, 150 TT, PP only (no IFR), 1.1 COMP/RG, 1.1 M20P. Premium: $3700 on $160k hull Pilot Pete in 2021: 35, ~280+ TT, PP (hopefully w/IR before renewal due in July), 132.1 COMP/RG, 132.1 M20P
  16. *crossing my fingers* @Jeev @Alan Fox @Avionics Source
  17. Looking up the tail number of Bob's Shrike reveals it was reclassified in the Experimental category. https://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N500RA
  18. Before I pay full retail, I figured it was worth seeing if anyone has these JPI sensors laying around. I need: a manifold pressure sensor (SKU: 604010) and an RPM sensor for Bendix dual mag (PN: 420808)
  19. I still have a used KMA24 on the shelf from a 28V airplane if anyone wants to pick up a spare.... #shamelessplug
  20. If anyone would be interested in having one of these for themselves, please let me know. I'm looking into it.
  21. Can't help but invite @gsxrpilot to this thread, in case he knows anyone around looking for a Mooney partnership...
  22. If they're not already on there, we need to add the white rear wingtip position lights to the list too...
  23. Premier at FXE did my pre-buy. I thought they did a good job. They're a Mooney Service Center which means service center pricing, but they also seemed to know what they were doing so it all balanced out. Seven months since with no show-stoppers and I've put more than 100 hours on it. Results not guaranteed...
  24. I don't have LED nav lights (yet) but I do have LED landing and taxi lights. My gear annunciator light is also very dim, so I'm interested in any solutions as well. @OSUAV8TER can help with LED questions. My guess is you want the Chromas for a NAV-light only replacement.
