  1. I have two, so I’m not unfamiliar. I asked because I was never told to avoid ever manually shutting it down OR ELSE like I’m hearing here. Did I miss this from the manual? Mechanic has my books for the annual so I can’t go check.
  2. My 121.5MHz ELT failed inspection due to “cracks in the case” so I opted to replace it with a 406MHz ELT. The only downside has been that the difficulty in connecting it to the integrated antenna foreward of the vertical stabilizer would have added significant labor costs and introduce risks of unintended consequences, so we installed the whip antenna that came with it from Artex. I have to say — I HATE the aesthetics of the whip antenna. Every time I look at it I cringe. But at least they’ll be able to find me if I wreck! *knock on wood*
  3. I looked into all of this when I bought last year. I was going to use the interstate commerce exemption by flying to Oshkosh and other conventions to pass out my business card. Fun, and lots of trips to learn the plane! Great plan, until COVID decided it wanted me to pay the tax.
  4. I'd put my money where my mouth is and pay $269.99, as one of the first people asking for this! Still hoping for the rear-facing wingtip LEDs too...
  5. If Jonny wants to give me that factory demonstrator I promise to take really, really good care of it. Otherwise, all my future upgrades are already sitting in my hangar.
  6. This is genius.
  7. In the sense that Garmin has something to sell and Dynon does not, I guess this is correct? $7195 is indeed higher than $0.
  8. The exact same regulatory environment doesn't seem to have slowed Garmin down, nor do I see any of their reps coming onto this board to blame the FAA for missing their own guidance. BWTHDIK?
  9. Please push the rear facing wingtip lights too! That will be the final piece to Whelen owning every light-generating object on my exterior.
  10. I don’t dispute that dealing with the FAA is probably a big pain in the ass. For the record I was not “yelling” about certification delays. I was “yelling” because blaming events that occurred two to three years ago for subsequent failures to keep promises made after those events makes no sense, and I thought those of you invested in the Dynon system deserved better.
  11. You’re thinking of the AeroCruze. The Aerocruz is a different product that automatically flies direct to Cancun.
  12. I have the GFC 500 already, I have no dog in this fight. But that explanation really didn't make any sense to me. I probably should have sat back and posted a popcorn gif, but then again I never learned when to shut my mouth...
  13. Wait a minute. "New challenges"? The last 737MAX crash was a full two years ago. Garmin pursued certification of the GFC 500 on multiple M20 fuselage lengths starting either right before the crashes, or in the immediate aftermath, and continuing through today. You're making it sound like Dynon couldn't have possibly seen this coming, but the MAX didn't seem to slow Garmin down. What's Dynon's excuse, why did it take two years to notice these "new challenges"?
  14. Mine are awesome. Often don't even need sunglasses.
  15. Yup. Brown Field and Big Bear typically have the cheapest fuel in SoCal. Tankering fuel from Big Bear isn't such a good idea during hot and high summer days, though.
  16. Surprised this lasted for 19 minutes so far...
  17. He's here. @bmcconnaha
  18. Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
  19. I definitely love my long-rangers. 8-9 hours of endurance is just ridiculous, in a good way.
  20. Me too. I thought they found everything important, which is what you want on a prebuy. It's been 8 months since, the plane is in for its annual now, and there hasn't been anything surprising I didn't already know about or expect, knock on wood. The only things that need fixing that weren't on the prebuy squawk list have been quoted a grand total of about $500 in labor to fix. I'll take that in a prebuy every time.
  21. Has anyone done business with Aviation Safety Products, especially if for re-webbing or repairing frayed/torn seat belts? Would you use them again? Not looking for suggestions of alternatives (e.g., Alpha Aviation), only specifically looking for experiences with Aviation Safety Products. https://aircraftseatbelts.com
  22. The G5 HSI can also do this with an OAT sensor.
  23. Nope, my green bulb recently burned out, so it does happen!
