  1. 1974 m20e Initial approach area 2300/20 - slows the plane to something reasonable, generally about 120 to 130 approach 2300/18 - def in gear/flap range, add takeoff flaps and configure plane between if and faf right before FAF, gear, undercarriage, mixture, prop full, flaps takeoff(verify), power 2700/16-15 to mins.
  2. come on now, you can order it on Aircraft Spruce, probably only 2 or 3 years out
  3. Exactly how I use my IPad, it's the utility of that cell connection that does it for me. I flight plan, file, brief, weather, adsb, etc... when i'm at my destination, i call ubers, web browse, check weather, chat with people, etc... I have a GDL393d for adsb and position. I also have a Samsung S7 tablet which is my preferred in plane device ( screen, brightness, Pen ) but mainly due to it's size and lack of cell, only gets pulled out on longer trips. None of these actually beats my high-end office depot notebook and pen/pencil combo for writing things down. I can absolutely use the s7 tablet for this purpose but man that pen and paper combo is soooo hard to beat.
  4. I"m doing everything i can to resist buying a new ipad mini 6. Actually went to the store to look at it, glad they didn't have a display model. While I still use 1800wxbrief.com pretty much every x-cntry, can't imagine what would actually make me call.
  5. Do the exact same, rub her cowling and pat the spinner. thank her for a wonderful flight
  6. Southern route is the easiest. It's really disconcerting flying at 12000 feet and the ground being 1000 feet below you 8). So about keeping it outside, it's Southern Cal, otherwise known as Desert. rust isn't really a thing unless you keep it directly on the coast. Buy a cover to block the sun, you'll be great. I'd suggest you sneak out and fly, there are an amazing amount of places to go . hmm, guess i was a bit late 8)
  7. don't forget us short body guys
  8. set to 1000ish rpm at shutdown, leave it there. Assuming the engine is still hot when you return, leave everything as it was on shutdown and just try to start the plane. it should start almost immediately, advance mixture once it starts. if you miss the start after a couple tries, save your self a headache and just flood the engine and perform a flooded start.
  9. My Surefly was installed 3ish years ago, used the existing slick harness, massive plugs and retained the SOS, everything works great. crossfingers, knock on wood Don't remember my mechanic changing the plug gaps. can give you my mechanics contact info if nec
  10. Fluke and an appropriate load should work
  11. hmm, this might just be the upgrade i've been waiting on, currently run Garmin PIlot on a samsung tab s7 and an ipad mini 5. Due to the iPad having an internal cell connection, it’s more used, but the S7 with the better screen is what I prefer using. this may just give me the best of both worlds
  12. BAM, just sayin
  13. Hmm, think you should suck it up and buy a boat. def think of worse things in life
  14. take it too your local motor repair shop ? 20k sounds like the definition of owner supplied parts
  15. Brian Isbell, Bk Aircraft Services 832.595.5008 I'm based at KDWH small world. oh yeah, per above, the real diff is landing, get really good at approaching on speed and being stabilized. then it's really just about holding her off until she squeals to the nicest landing you'll ever experience. now if you don't hold her off and you drop her, well, she'll act just like a basketball
  16. As far as planes go, you'll be fine. don't rush enjoy learning the plane. remember you can fly the plane slower if things are moving a bit too fast. I see you say you're based at KAXH, AP/IA Brian Isabell is based on that field, seriously one of the most knowledgeable mooney AP/IAs in Houston. Also he flies so if you need someone to go give it a prebuy/annual he can sort u
  17. They are just trying to get my hopes up 8( Just in case @Jeev, i'll be in Vegas oct 11 or 12 hehe
  18. why not gi-275's same form factor?
  19. hmm, that's a thought. I could build a small media server; load it up with movies and music.
  20. I'm not sure, really don't know much about what's going on since the pandemic started. do you have a hangar at khou ? man that would be cool as hell, who do i talk to? My brittain tracks magenta, and vors, even does approaches. If it had altitude hold i wouldn't think of replacing it. that being said, gfc500 or trutrak (yeah i know but i'm still about 6 mos out ) is next on my upgrade list.
  21. Replaced my step with this, less weight and more uses. folds for convenient storage ,
  22. figured out, sliding the seat back in an E is actually worth a knot or two.
  23. need better autopilot
  24. I generally fly IFR or atleast have FF, so constantly listening for ATC. watch engine gauges and fuel flows. look for engine out locations. look for interesting things on the ground. sometimes music but it's annoying as it's constantly interrupted by atc. I fly between 8000 and 12000 ft, every so often check the pulse ox and maybe take a couple puffs of oxygen just to stay fresh. I also find 8k plus avoids most traffic. honestly, once en-route at altitude, it isn't even .25 the workload of driving.
  25. yeah, something about Garmin/foreflight not getting along i'm guessing, shrug. at one point the new stratus 3 was supposed to work but seems it didnt happen. there was an article that came out a while back about the original stratus being developed exclusively for use with foreflight
