  2. xcountry, > 1hr , i find ifr easiest, esp on severe clear vfr days.
  3. I'm really leaning toward a super scuff and paint, don't like the idea of using chemical strippers on Birdy. really don't care about the extra 5 to 10lbs the paint will add. thinking about trying CO2 blasting.
  4. a used hsi is only slighly cheaper than a g5, good deal cheaper than a gi-275. install probably about the same, i'd just bite the bullet. I believe with a g5/gi275/md200/gi106, you won't need an annunciator as long as the radio and cdi are in your field of vision. gnc 300xl is fine, only thing you're losing is lpv approaches. installing gps anything except for maybe a gns175 gets super expensive really fast. labor is just crazy.

  16. just a thought, does that mean that maybe hooks will take a bit of govt money? would love a 20yr guarantee for that place. i'm scared one day the family will get an offer they can't refuse
  17. If anything like auto insurance, they will then turn around and raise your rates
  18. newer owner here, why isn't the airport covering the dmg? you'd think a hangar collapsing wouldn't be my fault. admitted, i haven't really read all the details of my policy or lease
  19. man, totally forgot about patches. think i'm gonna add a kit to the plane
  20. I noticed after reading the actual bulletin, following published leaning proc, I'd be pretty far LOP.
  21. nose wheel is easy. buy a tube and tire, find a jack, change it on the ramp. should be able to find someone to fly you to the plane for hamburger funds. maybe clean and grease the bearings while you're at it. if necc, get instructions from a mechanic. oh yeah, you'll need the correct size wrench and a "cotter?" pin. get the wrench size and correct pin from a mechanic just in case : Answers for Pilots: Preventive Maintenance - AOPA
