  1. Yeah, I saw that. I'm not holding my breath. Of course I have a couple of other items that need attention first since I have a fully functioning AP. I would sure like the digital AP with the extra safety features.
  2. I also fly an F and have the Sensorcon. The only time I have ever seen numbers like you is while taxiing in formation with the door open and the cool scoop out the window. On a normal day I see 2-4 while taxiing and 0-1 while inflight. I would check for gaps in the firewall and the tape along the floor in the foot wells.
  3. Rocket, Now I am confused, is there or is there not a comparison?
  4. If only it were available for my M20F. I will have the dual G5s, maybe in a couple of years I will be able to install the GFC500.
  5. Only the experimental version of the G5 has the ability to display command bars. Unless Garmin unlocks that in a future software upgrade you will not see it.
  6. Steve, Welcome to MS, feel free to introduce yourself and add some information to your avatar. Also to summon the original poster I would recommend using his screen name proceeded with the @ such as @bjoseph604 also sending him a personal message by clicking on his avatar and selecting message.
  7. SAVE THE DATE: The Annual Mid-Atlantic Group (MAG) Mooney Caravan Clinic is scheduled for 22-24 June at Lynchburg, VA (KLYH). http://www.mooneycaravan.com/training
  8. I cant help you on your question, however welcome to the site and I really like the polished Mooney, looks great. @M20Docis one of the best resources on the site when it come to most things maintenance related.
  9. Everything I have flown has been to add 1/2 the gust factor not to exceed 10kts to approach speeds.
  10. Confirming based on the title that the single if $50 and the dual is $75?
  11. Garmin now makes a flush mount for the g5s http://sarasotaavionics.com/avionics/g5-flush-mount-kit Aircraft Spruce also carries a non-PMA flush mount
  12. When did this site start posting in a foreign language. I think someone mentioned eating Raspberry Pie. I'll take mine a' la mode.
  13. Weather Obscured Zero Visibility and Fog
  14. Thunder Snow, my favorite
  15. Been there - got the t-shirt. Have 2000ish hours flying in a vest and helmet, I do not recommend, it totally SUCKS!
  16. I'm right there with you...Shhh don't let anyone know!
  17. Did you mount it to the passenger seat back? If so what did you use? Bold move showing a Touch-n-Go video on Mooney Space.
  18. @bob865 is that considered a "parking heater"? If it is I would assume the case stays fairly cool since it is intended to be mounted in a automobile engine compartment. How long does it run on 1ltr of fuel? have you figured out the temperature that it exhausts? And the always important Mooney question...what does the finished kit weigh?
  19. Yes, I never fly without it on, all thanks to @DanM20Cand his story.
  20. In the air: Vac Pump fail in VMC, I have standby by vac system. Ship EGT fail, I have a JPM EDI 700 Instrument light rheostat failed, happened to be on a day into night flight, good thing I carry multiple flashlights. On the ground: Starter failed, in Indiana on my way to Oshkosh All in all, none were serious, and the starter on the road was the biggest pain. But an overnighted part and a hard working A&P/IA had me up and running in time to get into Maddison for the Mooney Caravan arrival into OSH the following morning.
  21. In the past 6 years the plane I was flying has trended back and forth on requirements during pilot proficiency rides. First was the thought that everyone relied on the GPS and autopilot too much and had lost the ability to hand fly an approach using raw Navaids. It was a problem in the community, so in good military fashion we quickly over reacted and after a few years it turned out that the average guy would make errors if flying the approach using automation, similar to what you faced. Now cooler heads prevailed and we are required to hand fly an approach and fly a coupled approach each time. Our pilots also fly this IPC type flights every 30-45 days, in addition to other mission training rides and are probably averaging 700 hours per year in the plane.
  22. Paul, I assume you are looking for a non-permanent option for your panel without and drilling or damage? I removed the clip and use a 3M command strip on the back to attach it to my panel. The benefit is that it is easy to read but it still removes easily without any damage or marks. I have found in my plane that unless the door is open I run 0 or 1. However taxiing in formation I have had the alarm sound. I wear ANR headsets and had no problems hearing the alarm. I like being able to add the sensor to my usual scan, hopefully I will detect a negative trend in the numbers long before it alarms.
  23. You need to check your definition of FRIEND.
  24. I wholeheartedly agree, it was said in jest. He is always professional in his advice. Actually, if his shop was nearer to my location and on the south side of the border, I would gladly allow Clarence to work on my plane.
