  1. OSH as an aviation enthusiast is worth the price of admission. Magazine and online advertising will probably reach more people per dollar however there is a lot to be said about pressing the flesh and getting your story out face to face as well.
  2. @Cody Stallingsis our in house propeller expert. Shipping it his way is an option.
  3. If the drone had a chase plane it is probably in the R&D or OT&E phase. The drones are programed to fly a specific route if the 'pilots' lose contact with it, I would guess this is what happened. The following 180 turn was probably after they regained control.
  4. I am not sure there is a "standard" as you have shown in your pictures. All the glass I have flown behind has only had the 2 per side ( half and full scale deflection). The goal is to have it centered, no? or to know when established, 5 degrees on NDB, half scale on VOR, case break on the localizer.
  5. Interesting, It looks like that started last year. That location was even further removed than the location the Caravan ended up in last year. It is nice they are trying to allow small groups camp together. You could plan on flying in just prior or just after the caravan arrival. It would probably only put you a row or two away.
  6. You can't hold camping spots. They park the planes as they arrive. It is first come first serve and you park by who lands before and after you. That is the reason for the Caravan, so the group can camp together.
  7. Not quite all LED. I replaced the coffee grinder with the belly strobe I bought from you awhile back. The landing light was upgraded by the previous owner and I have been moving the old light around with me. I just replaced the wing tips with Aveo Ultra Galactica (Nav/position/strobe) that I picked up during the last Mooney Summit's silent auction. The instruments and GPSS were replaced with dual G5s. I have a Century 41 A/P so I am not sure why there was a Brittain TC installed.
  8. I have numerous items that have been removed from my 1976 M20F. All parts were working at the time of removal and were replaced during upgrades. If you are interested in any of the parts PM me your offer. Century GPSS 1C977 / Century GPSS Adapter/Controller 1C975, $1800 new ($800) Mid-Continent Directional Gyro 4000C ($200) GE Landing Light 4522 (pay for shipping) Brittain Turn Coordinator TC100EVS (Sold) Whelen Strobe Light Power Supply (X2) A490 (Sold) Strobe/Position Lights (Sold) Whelen Rotating Beacon (Coffee Grinder) WRML (Sold)
  9. I agree with Jerry, 'UNALBE' is a word you should be comfortable saying when the request makes you uncomfortable. I am willing to help out ATC, but they don't know your planes capability or your abilities. When ATC asks for maximum forward speed, they are not asking for you to fly Vne. If my gear are down, I have to stay below 104 kias, so 100 is the best I will give them. My take is if I am on an instrument approach I will not do anything different. I will configure 1-1.5NM from the FAF or one dot below the glide slope depending on the type of approach flown. If flying a visual (instrument procedure, not a VFR arrival) I will slow down no later than 5 nm from the field.
  10. My G5s seem to track nice and straight.
  11. @SabremechI believe sells the gear tools you are looking for.
  12. It dims throughout the entire range now. Honestly I am not sure how the old rheostat behaved, I only had a couple of night flights before it gave up.
  13. In my 76F the instrument lighting rheostat failed. It only lasted 41 years. A&P installed a new one and all was good.
  14. I am not claiming to be smarter, but I was curious as to the climb rate. Using the timing on the video you appeared to climbing 1000' every 10 seconds, so approximately 6000 fpm.
  15. https://www.wtsp.com/mobile/article/news/flying-memorial-for-vietnam-war-mias/67-122875065 That is the flying Vietnam memorial
  16. They list the future dates/locations each month. They are planned through August.
  17. This was a known problem with the C-130. The main wing box is time limited. This company chose to save money and not do the replacement.
  18. Just have been a pretty catastrophic failure for the blades to separate and penetrate not only the containment ring but the fuselage and window. Kudos to the crew for a successful recovery. Condolences to the family of the fatality.
  19. @Oscar Avalle so is there some extenuating circumstances with your new “assignment” you need to explain, assuming you are going to be a frequent flyer on this airline?
  20. My F has never leapt off the runway was others have described. If it is just me or one other up front, I add a little more nose up trim.
  21. Bob, are you to revisit camping at OSH again this year
  22. I agree, except my dog will not fit in a cage, at least not one that fits in a Mooney. He does however wear a harness with a lead that buckles into the seat belt. He as enough freedom to stand up and turn around, but cannot leave his seat either by choice or sudden deceleration.
  23. How did that black and white thing end up stage center? Couldn’t anyone find a tow bar?
  24. I guess it really depends on your route of flight, F95 is the cheapest ($3.55) in the area and only 36nm east. 54J ($4.25) is 30nm north west. Either is worth the time to not pay $6.58.
  25. Stop at Defunaik Springs 54J.
