I enjoyed her performance. Illusion/taped...No big deal to me. Actually glad she wasn't risking her life for a 13 minute performance. I give her a 10 compared to Beyoncé's 2. Of course all personal preference. Look at that I want political content out of football just like others do on MooneySpace...

There were 100's of drone's making an American flag. Were they an illusion too?

I totally respect those that wish to NOT participate...EXCEPT when they keep coming toward the flame like moths to say how awful it is instead of simply choosing NOT to tune in. Just stay away. You can do it. You can not be "hurt" by what you don't see. The last "outside" thread had over 1500 views before it disappeared. TOPS. A good percentage were gawkers and complainers that just couldn't and wouldn't stay away. It's going to be epic... Or not.

I also apologize to my northern friends for all past, present and likely future transgressions. I bought enough of them beers in Myrtle Beach back in the day as they were snow-birding (like me) back in the day when I had more hair on my head than my back... To their and our betters across the Pond I say stiff upper lip and all that rot...

I would just like to say I was WRONG WRONG WRONG about GaGa's half time performance. She was awesome and set a standard that will be extremely difficult for anyone to match. She was uplifting and celebrated with a diverse cast of characters that emphasized all that is GOOD about this country. The game was the most entertaining SuperBowl ever and as a Packer fan I understand what Ryan and his Hawks and their legion of fans are feeling today. They had a great season and bested the Pack twice...but ran into a living legend that showed "It ain't over until it is over"....W.O.W.

First off...Hang in there. So very sorry for your loss and the health issues for a loved one. I derive a lot of hope and faith from Kirk Douglas and his profound ability to bounce back after his stroke. I have laid two four-legged family members to rest and I compare it as HARDER (at the time) than the loss of my father who at 62 had lived a wonderful life and was so unhappy dealing with diabetes that to this day I feel his passing was a blessing. My dogs though had me and my wife to "control their fate". WE ended their time on the planet. That is rough...at least it was for me. I get emotional just reliving it here...Add to that foul winter weather when flying is an asterisk instead of an exclamation point and life can get real heavy. I am so happy that mags has found a new home. Nothing like "saving a soul" to help one's own soul be refilled with a lust for life. +1 on the harness. I would not personally have a dog unrestrained (unless <10lbs) in a plane until you really know how they will react. We have a collapseable kennel in big seat for small (50lb 1.5 year old pointer) and our senior 60lber goes in baggage...WHEN he flies. The other kennel serves as a barrier to his coming forward. We have not ever provided dogs with hearing protection. There does not seem to be any adverse results from this with all four dogs. Enjoy your new addition! Saying a prayer to the weather God's is never a bad thing. Sunny in Iowa today and 40's. Life is good.

Mooney crash, pilot walks away
MyNameIsNobody replied to 63-C-'s topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
This tops the old Delta (dagger or dart) pilot eject and the plane then flew on and landed in a field. Just a miracle that the pilot survivived. I hope to learn what was wrong with the heater muff that resulted in the incapacitation. So glad this turned out well. HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Retractable Step wanted
MyNameIsNobody replied to CJpilot316's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
I have two retractable steps. Both are powder coated and look like new. The style is slightly different for each. My guess is that your style on 67 has a bottom finisher that fills the hole on retraction. I have that step. I also have the mounting block if needed. $150+ shipping and one is yours. What I have in it. PM if interested. -
Fuel pressure/ manifold pressure gauge replacement

X2 ON EI. WORK GREAT FOR YEARS... -
Just hope you always pre-flight and check oil. A human might forget sometime and have a dipstick not tight. I think you are overthinking the moisture thing. If you are flying 2x/week and changing the oil on a regular basis...

They significantly impair depth perception. There is a steep learning curve wearing NVG's. Mega expensive for a good set. Thousands...Spend it on maintaining your bird.

Grumman Mallard accelerated stall
MyNameIsNobody replied to GeorgePerry's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I feel badly for the 30 year old woman that chose to "ride along". I doubt she signed up for "that". The pilot? Not so much. Stupid tricks often have stupid results. Solution? Don't do stupid tricks. I have a Beechcraft pilot that FREQUENTLY does accelerated climb and steep bank at D25. I have seen him bounce three times on landing. I anticipate this type of result some time with his repeated stupid tricks. I won't feel "sorry" in any way shape or form if/when a smoking crater announces the end of one of his tricks... -
XE Vision Landing Lamps Installed
MyNameIsNobody replied to Little Dipper's topic in General Mooney Talk
This should be a no-Brainer for FAA. I also had this installation completed (with a field approval BEFORE the unnecessary clamp down occured) and years later could not be happier. Power drain was a problem before. I literally could not see out of the old sealed beam light. It was unsafe. The HID is not hot, low draw and works. I use all the time after engine start and it has worked without issue for hundreds of hours. This is a BIG safety of flight upgrade that is just WRONG to not be easily available for install in GA aircraft. The install took all of about 4 hours with paperwork... -
I would do neither as the return on investment is simply not there. If you want a turbo get a 252. If you want speed and efficiencyget a 201. Investment and Mooney are polar opposites. Do what you want, but V-Ref and reality are completely different. Putting $ into a panel is for you not an investment with return. Putting a lopresti cowl on a vintage Mooney is silly and expensive. I call BS on being a wise investment.

I fly through a couple MOA's adjacent to a relatively small restricted airspace (Ft. McCoy-Wisconsin) on a regular basis. Volkman Field (Air Guard) just East. As a Guardsman I used to lob 81mm mortars on ranges and hear A-10's cannon while on AT. I respect the MOA's and try to obtain flight following. I monitor the controlling freq, but no longer contact as I strongly believe I was providing entertainment on circumnavigation "around their airspace" whenever I would. The restricted areas are in the ranges where livefire is completed. The MOA's are over towns on the outside perimeter of the Restricted airspace. I stay alert, but I go through those MOA's every time I travel to from the Northwoods.

Seat foam "Re-do"
MyNameIsNobody replied to MyNameIsNobody's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
O.K., plane is in for annual and seat is pulled and dropped off at shop for re-do. He said a week or two for seat. Only squaks going in were an exhaust gas probe issue on G3 and having baggage door lattice installed properly. (Only part of interior re-had partner and I did that just didn't get finished). Here's to a hopefully straight forward annual... Seat PIREP to follow. Just picked up the pilot seat re-foam seat-pan only from Singer Upholstery. He charged me $50 for the install. I give him $100 and said I will drop off the co-pilot seat later this week. Upon sitting on the seat I can immediately tell a huge difference in the quality vs. my 50+ year old foam. Linn said that the three 1" sections were about all that would fit. I have the same sections ready for co-pilot seat. I am going to sit on it tonight while watching TV and see how it feels after a couple of hours. My initial assessment is definitely worth the investment. -

Good Midwest Mooney Mechanic
MyNameIsNobody replied to MooneyNate's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
MXO-Monticello Iowa knows and works on several Mooney's. They are reasonable on pricing for an annual. I don't know what their policy is on "owner assisted" annual participation. Wouldn't that be difficult if not local? Anyway, give Brian a call. My 66 M20E has been serviced (and improved) there for over 15 years. My bird is in for annual now as is another M20E. -
Conversion to Sloped Windshield?
MyNameIsNobody replied to prflyer's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
My bird came with speed slope and retains access. I am super certain that resale jumps by $15AMU's that are lost by the three blade prop. Wax on....Wax off. -

As the years pass the thought process changes
MyNameIsNobody replied to cliffy's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I watched a commercial recently that had a young woman jogging and she came upon an old "fortune teller" type machine that said it would tell you how/when you would die. She hesitated and then dropped in a quarter and stuck her finger into the machine. A pin prick and whirring gears resulted in a small piece of paper being expelled from the machine. She slowly unfolded the paper and read: OLD AGE With a smile she turned and started to cross the street. Immediately struck by a car and killed. The old driver behind the wheel double clutching the steering wheel with heavy fists viewing out through coke bottle glasses and a rumpled old suit and hat was indeed-OLD...
