  1. Congrats from a fellow 66 M20 Driver. (S#1120) and Porsche owner. 06 Cayman S. -DO NOT SELL YOUR PORSCHE.
  2. Had they been saying "NOoooooo!" As the boot was approaching I may have just tossed them outside the group hanger.... Or not. Those little bastards were relentless until I got my private hanger. If I see a porcupine or starling and have means to dispatch there is zero hesitation. Bye Bye. Someone else's torment averted.
  3. It's actually a surgical procedure...
  4. My "gal" says "Check Gear" "Check Gear" when this happens. I was pulling back on J Bar vs. pulling down on sleeve to confirm down and locked prior to this happening. I am guessing there were taxi and take-off's without the bar being locked prior to the event by me and my co-owner.
  5. I will modify #1 response to say: My instructor and I landed (where she called an engine out while completing touch and goes in the pattern while turning downwind on a displaced runway) where we neglected to extend the gear.
  6. That cowl mod is no daisy range model lever action carbine with a compass in the stock, but it ain't bad... "Easy on the eyes and while flying through the clear blue skies"...
  7. -"Sabre's by day and Mooney's by night. We don't quit until your cowl fits right"
  8. This pricing reminds me of th gear biscuits. A complete F'ing RIPOFF.
  9. Didn't/Wouldn't flinch at $300-$400 for shoulder harness purchase. A grand? Hell No.
  10. Best day was years ago in a group hanger. Five of those little darlings fell out of a nest. I accidentally stepped on all of them...They are truly the enemy at an airport.
  11. Yup, you are correct. Did not read closely. Rip off. Glad I bought before idiot pricing ensued.
  12. So they are $365 on ebay. Not a grand. You folks that think a grand is not a bad price to pay to keep your face from being destroyed on your panel in an accident scenario should be just giddy at $365. This is an "upgrade" from mine with the push-button vs. mine that can get unfastened by the unwary while swinging J-Bar. Not sure where the outrage at the outraged comes from. The price point is HIGH and NOT what needs to be paid for the product. If you are zero degree interested in price...GOOD for YOU. I will continue to look for something that is "right" priced not a ripoff.
  13. Ben Done Movie. We have people here that think a grand for shoulder harnesses is "O.K.", but balk at spending half that for an audible alarm for gear as well as stall. You mnemonics, memory touchy talky folks are one weird distraction away from an expensive loud noise that will ruin your quarter. Those that have speaking to those that will.
  14. Best thing in your Mooney for upgrades in a C model is retractable harness seat belts... Wait for it: HA Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha............................................................Ha. Good one.
  15. First thing I bought for the plane. THAT IS A RIDICULOUS PRICE I would not have paid that much. Maybe salvage? Good luck with your search.
  16. Learn to fly a Cub if you want to fly slow/sight-see, burn a little fuel and have fun doing it. In a Mooney? Meh.
  17. F what I said. No flaps-Go fast-fly it on. Have fun...
  18. What would be a range of hours for this? Removing old Narco and tray. Wiring/mounting the GPS and Transponder blade antenna. Finishing wiring for transponder. Installing new tray/transponder. Testing/Paperwork.
  19. I had a lot of interest in the success of the M-10. Many didn't like the look of it. I did/do. The idea of having a retract version appealed to me as well. Glad that the old, perhaps "anti M-10" CEO is gone and the word is that the project and the investment is alive and progressing. I will not be buying another Mooney airframe new or used, but hope many others do and the brand continues to be manufactured for many years to come. I hope I live to see an all electric 200 knot Mooney capable of carrying four passengers cross country....
  20. O.K., I canceled order at Spruce and went with Pacific as they had unit in stock. The. Guy "upsold"? Me on a blade transponder antenna. He told me my short ball tipped transponder antenna may or may not pass the test, but the blade definitely would? Anybody else hear/concur with that?
  21. Guys, this was a Johnson bar thread that morphed into a how much to convert to electric. Really? Just buy an electric bird if that is your stroke. A Johnson bar is NOT hard to retract if you get it up before speed builds. If you wait it can be impossible. It is a non-event with some practice. Time to get a different plane or hang up the spurs. Try and rack a slide on a .45. If you can't do that you should NOT be swinging a Johnson bar. You are officially old and weak.
  22. Glad son made it. One positive in a very tragic event.
  23. I used to land NO FLAPS. Fine with just me. NOT FINE when loaded. Now I Land power to idle when runway made and full flaps MOST of the time. May carry a little power into short final if windy...especially if gusting. Biggest deal is to hold it in the round out. Hold it off. HOLD IT OFF. Bleed off the airspeed and HEAR THAT STALL HORN IN THE FLARE and HOLD IT OFF SOME MORE when mains make contact. LET THE PLANE LAND WHEN IT IS READY TO LAND. Once I started doing this landings have been a non-event. Sometimes nose transition is quicker, depending on wind. THEY FLOAT A LOT in the summer in ground effect. DON'T RUSH IT. EVER. So what if you miss the first turn-out? Greasing landings is awesome and easy if you let 'em land when THEY are ready. Have fun.
  24. Agree Paul and Hank. It is all about figuring out how to store more power in a lighter weight energy source. The Austrian target is commuting in a metro-area. Example being from airport to downtown of an urban area. Likely be autonomous. VTOL then fast speed on a specific route. Between this and fusion powered trucks the future is now (getting here quickly). Greener Tech. Quieter too. All good. I want newer more efficient refineries for fuel too. A nice modern aviation engine with FADEC as standard would be sweet too. Lighter, faster more efficient.
