That's a solid rating, but ONLY if you also own a Trans Am.

Seat foam "Re-do"
MyNameIsNobody replied to MyNameIsNobody's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I can give a PIREP on satisfaction on foam combination/comfort or any do-over ideas, but the actual disassembly/assembly will be completed by a retail operation, so won't see the process being undertaken -
Can we go to that run it dry or not dry thread everyone...read through and then, ONLY THEN add thoughts again here? Thank you.

Seat foam "Re-do"
MyNameIsNobody replied to MyNameIsNobody's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Nice Jim! My box is in hand too. I got three one inch sections in pink/blue/green (soft/Med/Hard) x2. Doing pilot and then passenger seat pan. I sat on mine after taking off porch as I had read about stiff when cold. Yup, but my rump warmed it up relatively quickly and it contoured to my backside. Install in a couple weeks with annual. Good luck with your install and other goodies too -
Wisdom is gained by life experience. Life experience is a nice way of saying "I made a lot of mistakes in my life and have gained knowledge and insight from them". Pilot shared his experience to help me and others gain life experience/wisdom without the pain. Thank you.

Agree Bennett. I use a couple of 3' x 6' remnants. They are far enough back to stay dry. Likely have some dirty spots from dogs and stray dripping, but are under mains more than under belly. -
My understanding was that pilot stated he forgot to switch tanks. He then hit boost pump at hiccup and clear power lines prior to switching tanks. No joy on re-start and offfield landing with fuel in left tank. A check-ride WILL-be coming. Mine was uneventful. Even Naval aviators are human. Superior , but human non the less. That just reinforces more in my mind the importance of...my previous post items. If it can happen to the best of the best, it damn well can happen to me...

I have carpet on floor on each side of plane. When mains are at front of carpet I am the right depth in hanger. Nice to step and down onto a piece of carpet vs. hard floor too. -
I had a gear up years ago while under instruction in a simulated engine failure in the pattern with a displaced runway. My take-away and RELIGION after that event is to use the checklist on my thigh. Glad you and your fiancé made it. VERY lucky. VERY preventable as you know. Thanks for sharing and reinforcing the importance of sumping tanks...Having an accurate fuel monitor that is set properly...Using a checklist for all phases of flight. Instrument scan... We are human. Using specific procedures is not a failsafe, but it helps keep us from being fallible. AGAIN, VERY GLAD you are O.K. If there had been a fire result would have likely been different with delayed egress. I carry a plexiglass banger/seatbelt cutter in my pocket. So twenty gallons. Ten in each tank? Did you sump? 30 mile flight ten gallons should have made it, reinforcing the importance of a visual check and sumping as a standard procedure. KNOW your fuel quantity. HUGE... I hope your next bird is soon and safety is your mantra. Tell this story over and over. Good for your soul and you may save others. This flying business is very unforgiving, but can be largely mitigated through safe procedures and solid maintenance and upkeep.

There is another thread where a Mooneyspace member had damage to their plane from hanger movement. Years ago, shortly after purchasing my plane, I was in a group hanger with individual door access. I had a northern exposure and the access was uphill. Ice would accumulate and getting plane up incline was difficult. The hanger had vertical supports that if you pushed back to far you could strike. I forgot this and plane when I was pushing fast to get up hill and thinking about ice, got too deep and struck the right flap. I searched long and hard to find a right flap to replace the small dent that I noticed every time I approach the plane. I really wanted to get rid of that bad memory. A while ago I found a right flap for an earlier C model. I asked on Mooneyspace and there was no definitive yes or no on whether the flap would work on my 66 E. I purchased a flap in good condition and had it shipped with the help of a relative from Arizona to Iowa. Delivered the flap my car and flew over to A&P for install. The hangers are not the same and the flap is not compatible. Lesson learned is that confirming compatibility is critical when replacing apart on a vintage Mooney. I tell the story in hopes that others will get confirmation prior to long-distance purchase. If anybody is in need of a 63 C model flap I have one in great condition for sale

Even Eagles get their feathers ruffled from time to time... "IT" happens.

Funny. Both Ha Ha and Strange. "All friends here" says the guy that got me banned and blocked me. For what? Having a little fun and calling out exaggeration of airspeed that we Mooney Pilots do with regularity... Pleeze...... Calling a spade a spade since old enough to know better.

Funny. I'm not buying so Yes, we are cool honey bunny.

You should ask them about the electric solenoid disconnect for PC system. Very nice as you flip a toggle switch and the electric solenoid blocks PC vs. holding button down to cancel PC. I fly with PC always on (unblocked) unless maneuvering. I did NOT like holding down the button. The solenoid was NOT that expensive (.1AMU's) and install was straight forward. I did with updated yokes. Toggle on left handle of pilot yoke in similar position to PC button. 100% agree that Brittain is awesome to work with.

Goals are an excellent way to visualize what you desire. Yours are aggressive, but very measurable. I look forward to observing your check marks as you make progress. Your a Marine, so hopefully some good relatable stories on your trials, tribulations along the way. Maybe you will motivate others to pursue your objectives as they see value in your accomplishment? I wish you blue skies and minimal FUBAR along your journey.

Hypocrite much? What I really wanted to say... So I did.

You guys know that Maxim has this "stuff" right? You can go to sites that are not MooneySpace and get more semi-clad women of varying sizes showing themselves at various angles. Just checking as AH's side-boob is great stuff and nubile man-child beefcake six packs are entertaining, but you can ogle to your very specific fetish for free online. Or maybe I will just PC whine about this "offensive" thread and get it locked...Just like a politics thread. Remember, as one MooneySpacer said: "My kids come to this site"... All Mooney's All The Time. What I was told over and over again by members that didn't like a deviation and lively discussion by adults... Just say'n...

My perspective is that I don't want to buy your plane. I want to buy the plane serviced by a licensed A&P replacing parts with certified parts. If I ever catch a hanger fairy I will de-capitate it and put the head on the vertical stab to warn away other fairies...

Sorry that happened...I use a pillar on back wall. If tail is on it I am good along with nose wheel on yellow line. Here is to a speedy repair and back in the air for 2017. Hang tough. -
I had my front seats re-upholstered a few years ago. I neglected to have the foam re-done. Big mistake. I am in process of having that error corrected. Just doing pilot seat initially. (Doing while down for annual. Foam on the way. I elected to get six inches of foam in two inch sections. Two are firm, two are medium and two are soft. I will let you know how the project goes. Regardless, it will be an improvement as the 50 year old foam was compressing so much at front of seat that comfort on a flight over an hour was Lacking... Foam is burn rated with documentation. I have a local upholstery "guy" that is good. WWW.seatfoam.com

At what age do boobs go from Modern to Vintage? I generally prefer looking at ALL things modern, unless the airframe has been very well maintained. Gravity is a Mother....
