  1. Slippery slope, if you sre limit to what’s needed…do you NEED an airplane. :-)
  2. Over 5 all the time, 6 only once. If I flew to Caribbean or Europe have more fuel will allow skipping expensive and time consuming stops.
  3. Mine was the flight home from an annual, it went away and didn’t return.
  4. Engine monitor data? This is an example of what losing a cylinder for a few moments looks like:
  5. 2 weeks assuming no problems, mine took 3 weeks because the fuel tanks leaked after stripping process, so needed to fix this. Also if planning to do this, do not do corrosion preventative maintenance (corrosion X), you should wait 2 years least otherwise it mess up the paint job.
  6. Thanks for the pirep. What’s the reseal cost these days? What happens to the fuel in your tanks when you arrive? I would hope you don’t have to pay to refill your tanks from empty. Any damage to the paint from the work?
  7. Mine had it’s share of minor problems, which I couldn’t see the day I picked it up. You need to go over the plane like you’re waxing it and in the good light. I kept a talley of the issues and brought the plane back to have it fixed which they were happy to do. The problem these days is getting scheduled. I’ve heard of shops holding planes for months because they over schedule, be sure to check if there’s planes parked on their ramp.
  8. Alan told me someone tried scamming him using my picture, be careful.
  9. BTW, senders can work great with analog but not with digital gauges because the readings aren’t consistent. You can manually check this using ohmmeter and verifying readings are stable and consistent as you move the armatures.
  10. Obviously the bigger airports usually do, Daytona Beach for example.
  11. And if you have the wing gauges that gives you 3. FF is the most accurate. I overhauled because I have 4 senders and only the inboard ones needed it.
  12. Can you elaborate?
  13. I don’t cruise below 8000 unless it’s a short flight, since I want to run LOP around 65%, I’ll select RPMs to get there, usually 2400 or 2500.
  14. Speed brakes, wing tips, extra thick glass, etc IIRC is ~26lbs. Probably heavier alternator (24v), electric cowl flaps, etc Extra and heavier avionics (backup electric vacuum pump for example). I can maybe see 100lbs…200 no.
  15. Installation is not as simple as just replacing a battery. It requires 2 vent tubes (my box only has 1) and a LED warning light to be panel mounted. So add 8 hours or more of labor to pricey battery.
  16. Autopilots Central in Tulsa have a good reputation of repairing misbehaving autopilots.
  17. Opps, my bad, yes I was.
