  1. Wow, here in Florida where clouds start building by 9am predawn flights are smooth, cool, and little traffic, not to mention beautiful along the coast. My last night flight was 7 hrs ago.
  2. Ah, that's a 60 only feature.
  3. I think you have the STEC AP. Have you ever done the manual intercept angle? (pushing the HDG & NAV buttons at the same time) I have a video of it doing an 80 degree intercept. Never heard of this, my manual specifically states must be with 10 degrees of heading and 1 needle width?
  4. What's the pros and cons of a TN J vs 231?
  5. Taller golfers just have more upright lies, club length usually standard or close to it, might extend them an inch if you're really tall.
  6. I don't think so, maybe with wedges. The carry bags will fit across the backseat, I then lay the woods across the seat back, with heads in the hat rack, the irons across the luggage compartment from side to side, heads on the floor, they don't lay flat, so I cover grips to protect against scuff marks, with them up against the seat back. You can carry 2 with most of the luggage area still available. Edit: luggage compartment is 35" high, a 7 iron is 40", even wedges are 36". Not to mention extra inch for the bag base. Cabin is 44", so you could stand them on the floor behind the front seat, but you'd have to leave your seats forward
  7. Boy your hangar elves are out of control
  8. Life is too short to be stuck with something you don't want, in the end the money you spent on hangar, avgas, maintenance....will be much more than you spend on the plane itself especially when you consider you'll get most of it back when you sell. So I say buy what you want, you'll be happier in the long run then if you just settle for something less.
  9. It's not a fouled plug. It's not injectors, had them cleaned since the problem started and made zero difference. It's not the timing cause I had it checked. Must be a bad plug. Do you replace just the one? If they are Champions, I would replace them all with Tempest.
  10. Instead of having weights, did you think of adding a 2nd battery, at least that would be more useful. Could also add some avionics, GDL88 and Flightstream, and other remote boxes.
  11. I would not... I would do one thing at a time, pulling injectors when not needed may introduce another maintenance induced problem.
  12. Why would weak spark lead to higher EGT? Delayed burn? Yes, same reason 1 mag causes higher EGTs
  13. 430Ws are great, but I would not spend $8K on a used 15 year old technology when an extra 4k gets you brand new, modern, warranty with nicer screen, more functionality, and easier database updates.
  14. Aspen is a glass display and GPS is navigator...apples and oranges
  15. JPI 830 engine monitor GTN 650
  16. When in doubt it's best to go behind the storms, I don't play chicken with TS. And in and out of cumulus? No thanks, with my luck one of those would explode into a full TS
  17. If thats the case shouldn't you hear the telltale hiss of air when you open the fuel cap?
  18. No autopilot ?! I'd be exhausted too.
  19. In my experience, the first indication of a degrading harness is hard starting in raining conditions. Something about the high humidity causes the high voltage current to leak easily.
  20. No, there clearly was fuel in the left tank at least, you can see it pour out in the video, it runs down the windshield of the car. I don't agree with the poor flight planning either; she got to the airport and didn't seem to have a problem on the first approach to 4 before she was forced to go around by the tower because of a closing 737. Once she missed and accepted the other runway and got out of sync she fell behind the plane and never could recover. If she just asked to be resequenced for a long straight in approach I think she would have been fine.
  21. I never had a problem with AOPA, they send me a form 2-3 months before insurance runs out, and I fill it and send it in, then they call me about 3-4 weeks before. Was with AIG, they raised rates, so I was switched to Global, about a 40% reduction.
  22. How about rusted out 40+ year old cars? Nope, but the paint takes a beating unless you have a garage, I wouldn't have a nice vehicle without a place to put it, I hangar my plane.
  23. But I can install the copilot seat and fly from the right side, yes? (M20R trivia question--what operations per POH require me to sit on left as PIC?) Do you have brakes on the right?
  24. My understanding is that the salt attracts water so generates a large droplet and falls out of the air pretty quickly, so you don't have worry if more than a mile from the shore, here in Florida you don't see rusted out cars so there must be some truth to it
  25. I was looking for evidence of the chute dragging, but I couldn't see it. If you look carefully I believe you'll see the chute rocket firing on impact.
