  1. Did you download engine monitor data and look for any anomalies?
  2. A blaring horn?
  3. Even with LEDs all around and modern avionics but no glass, I added up my max/peak current requirements and came out to 46.5A. Realistically I won't be transmitting on both radios, I've calculated my minimum draw in case of power loss to be 13A, not counting flaps, gear motor.
  4. Be careful it doesn't slip off....
  5. I believe it's actually a airspeed switch, not a squat switch on the landing gear. At least that's the way it is for early Js
  6. 14.4v is a little high, I believe 13.8-14.2 is the preferred range...there is an internal pot you can adjust the threshold voltage. If it were me I would get a 2nd 15300, open then both up, adjust each one for 14v unless you want set of them to be considered secondary, then I would adjust it as 13.9.
  7. My mechanic sent it to LASAR, which is probably what most do.
  8. Take what engine manufacturers say with a grain of salt, they are in the business of selling engines, it's in their best interest to have your engine make it through the warranty period, then die a slow death...and need to buy a new engine.
  9. IR saves money on insurance, commercial doesn't
  10. I do the test, for what's it's worth. IIRC if you pull the CB for the turn coordinator which it uses, it still passes the self test, but it will ignore any attempt to engage the autopilot. I normally pull the TC CB when playing on the ground so not to put more wear and tear on the TC.
  11. Yes, AOPA switch me to Global +1 ... and got a better rate with same coverage. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Ditto but I went from 70 hrs in type to over 200, so can't tell how much reduction was due to that.
  12. Absolute values are kinda of useless, I would expect a 2007 Acclaim to cost a lot more than 1963 C, better to give % of hull value.
  13. Yes, AOPA switch me to Global
  14. My JPI stops warning me once oil temp hits 90, FWIW
  15. $9!!! That's a lot for the CBs among us.
  16. Am I reading your ammeter correctly, you are pulling 30 amps with just avionics?
  17. I assume the estimate was a verbal agreement...this why I try to use email and will send email if they call with "As discussed ...." I think someone was joking but maybe they did say 45 instead of 4 to 5.
  18. My current Doc is a nonactive pilot, if looking for a new doc, go into waiting room, check the magazines, if any flying magazines around, that's the doc you want.
  19. Obviously if the car engine dies it doesn't put your life or vehicle at risk. For those with large boats, also warm up their engines, because boats don't have brakes, they use reverse, if a boat engine quits you have lost control, around marinas and bridges and jetties this can cause a lot of damage.
  20. For me, I like to fly the final approach a little faster than when visual, 15-20 mph, so if go to minimums and decide to land I need to slow it down fast, don't think I could slow it down enough if minimums were any lower than 200'
  21. I never realized the J and K cowl flaps were so different, Js close no problem
  22. Why is it non-aviation? I thought the 'PAR-46' blessed it. I think PAR46 refers to it's size, 4.6 inches?
  23. IIRC, insurance won't cover IFR students was the reason no real IMC during training. Also, it's apparently tough to find CFIIs, pilots who are just accumulating hours have no desire to get the rating.
  24. I have a 81 version and it doesn't have it (or at least not in same spot), 86 version does.
