I didn't read it that close since it didn't apply to me, but I think it probably has to do with the top prop spinner problems a few years ago.

The spinner p/n is inside the spinner.  I have a newer (2009) Scimitar prop, haven't figured out if I am involved. Email reply from Hartzell tech support: "If you have a metal spinner, you are probably affected."

I just spoke with Hartzell and they say its for top prop conversions only.

that's good to hear (for me anyway).

Kerry, Top Prop is Scimitar, right? That doesn't seem to jive with what I was told by H. tech serv. "

I think Top Prop is Scimitar.  I was told the conversion goes back 10 years.  If you have questions you can speak  with Eric at Hartzel ph#937-778-5741

I suggest checking with your regular shop. I have the Top Prop 2 bladed Scimitar with the long metal spinner, and so I called Mike at LASAR.  He has read the Bulletin, and he said it doesn't apply to my J.  Nice to dodge some more expense, for a change.

For clarification: Two years ago I had a spinner/backing plate problem, and Hartzell replaced both under warranty. I think they gave me the updated parts at that time.

Looked in my parts manual for my plane and it references the spinner Part Number as 835-20.  Since this bulletin is for PN's 835-54(P) or 835-58(P), I'm good... At least I think so! :)

I thought I posted but do not see. Hartzell told me that since my Scimitar prop has the "long 201" spinner because I have a 201 style cowl mod the spinner is not affected by bulletin.
