Jamie Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Instructor noticed the plastic washer thing surrounding the metal pin that the shoulder belt snaps onto has broken. It's still there, but it's not keeping the shoulder belt attached to the lap belt. I have no idea how to find this part to start to try to order it. Suggestions? Quote
carusoam Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Consider replacing the belts, when this type of age becomes apparent. Not suggesting spending tons o dough, but a couple hundred I think? Check when they were installed in your logs. If they are original or undocumented you will know what you want to do... Best regards, -a- Quote
JaredDavis Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 This is covered by a SB. http://www.mooney.com/images/pdfs/sb-pdf/sbm20-263.pdf 1 Quote
jetdriven Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Nylon wire tie will work till fixed. Umm there is an AD that specifically calls for inspection of that plastic collar and they prohibit zip ties. Quote
firefly201 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Jamie, Call Willmar or Lasar they should have them. A bit pricey for what they are. Slip them over the post and shrink with a heat gun I think. Quote
RJBrown Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Umm there is an AD that specifically calls for inspection of that plastic collar and they prohibit zip ties. I have seen the zip tie used temporarily. Till you get the new shrink to fit piece I think it would be better than nothing. The safty issue is the shoulder strap unhooking in a accident. If it never un hooks there is no danger. The SB states " The Ty- rap’s lock ing tab may pre vent the re straint buckle from prop erly snap ping into po si tion or may cre ate dif fi cul ties in re leas ing the re straint buckle in an emer gency" I just dont see the danger. If the locking tab of the tie wrap is in the right direction. You are better with it untill you can get it fixed right. I was making a suggestion for a temporary repair, and I stand by my reccomendation. I have seen it work you, are safest with it fixed right but you are safer with a wire tie than with nothing. Quote
